The resolution of a texture has no relation to your screen resolution. Texture resolution is measured in pixels per surface, so using a 2k display does not mean you can't see a 8K texture. It's just a completely different measurement. This tool just reduces the resolution, so you will see less details close up and get some performance in exchange. HOWEVER, if the modeler is using the latest tools and thus a rough base texture plus decals for the details, this tool will do nothing good. It will help with less advanced aircraft (FSLTL for example). But again, at the cost of details.

It seems that this may be the main use case. I've heard that it helps with performance when there's traffic specifically at a busy airport on vatsim.
@pilotguy273 күн бұрын
To be honest, the biggest performance hit with FSLTL is not the aircraft, but the injector program itself. It suffers from tremendous memory leaks. When you lose performance, just close the injector and resart it and you will see your performance improve. I have been testing out Beyond ATC with the traffic injection, and I can say that the perfomance is greatly enhanced over FSLTL and AIG. Just remember that BATC uses whatever aircraft liveries you have installed (FSLTL, AIG, FS Traffic) for the aircraft models. I fly only in VR, and I can tell you that I can acheive 40 to 45 fps in most areas with BATC injecting and directing traffic. For VR, that is incredible FPS. I do have a beefy system (5800x3d, RTX 3080 Super). As I have said before in other posts, MSFS is very CPU and GPU intensive and is not highly optimized. It has been this way since the very first Microsoft Flight Simulator. The only way to improve performance is to get the right CPU/GPU combo and be very judicious with your settings. All this program is doing is dialing back your setting in a different manner for you. Just my opinion.....................

I run an older PC with a RTX2080. My PC is locked at 30pfs with heavy traffic pretty much everywhere except the busiest airports. Inibuilds LAX with over 100 injected FSLTL traffic the fames will steady at about 22-24 fps avg and in some cases will momentarily dip below 20fps which is almost unplayable. When I used the texture optimizer for just the FSLTL traffic, I got about a 4fps gain (24-28fps avg) This may not seem as much but it is a HUGE difference in a lower end PC. in exchange the FSLTL liveries look the same from about 30ft away, but you can tell the difference if you drone up close to one of liveries. In all honesty, I think it was a good trade off! Thanks!

Can I ask you for your VRAM on your RTX2080? Guys, I have AMD RYzen 9, 32 RAM, RTX 3080 with 8 GB VRAM, on Airports like Manchester, Newark, LAX, Nice, in VATSIM and sometimes alone, I get 14-12 fps. It is unplayable. THe new Frankfurt, which I waited for so long, gives me tops 12 fps. Last night I tried this method. In 2048 Resolution, it made the files from 4,2 GB to 8,2 GB, which totally didn't make sense. I reconverted it to 1024 and it is 4,3 GB. I am actually thinking that the Aerosoft textures for EDDF are less than 1024 res, this is why the Texture Optimizer is enlarging the airport size instead of descresing it. And my FPS is a steady 10-12 there. Now I hear you have RTX2080 and getting much better performance. WHat am I doing wrong in the Sim overall? I am using Addons Linker, activating only the airports I need, the livery I need, what the heck is wrong with my setup then?

@@30DegreesBank My 2080 has 8Gbs of VRAM. There's a lot of optimization I have done over the last year to get the FPS that I have. the biggest help was changing my texture resolution to MEDUIM instead of high or ultra in the MSFS graphic settings. this allow me a lot of headroom to bump up other settings. I also use Process Lasso to optimize the sim. (mostly to separate and allocate specific core affinities to different background apps that run along with MSFS. mostly to keep the main thread core freed up as much as possible. I would check GPU load to see if your utilizing most of your GPU and to see if you VRAM is being overloaded. turning down texture resolution should help with VRAM. Also I would make sure you're not doubling up on custom scenery where the stock airport scenery is actually being rendered under you custom scenery. that will definitely tank fps. there are many other things that maybe causing your issues but I can't think of any more atm, but for sure you should be getting better performance than me ideally.

I appreciate the work you put into videos like this one, but frankly without the fps test before/after it has almost no value. I dont think that loading lower textures means more fps. Lower textures are less demanding on your GPU VRAM (usually 8 12 or 16 gb) and that is hugely influenced by the resolution you use for gaming (4K monitor 2k monitor FHD monitor). If I use 4K livery I can tell the difference in quality pretty easily even on 2k monitor I play. I dont use 8K livery just because I do have only 8gb of vram on my GPU and at large airports it runs like 90-95%, but when I tried it I had same fps with 8k livery and 4k livery and also some "medium quality" livery (author did not specify what resolution it is) my guess is 2k because it was roughly 50% size of the 4K pack. So in my opinion this wont help with fps (in my case texture resolution doesnt do anything), but it frees up vram on your gpu which can be benefitial in heavy areas, because when you reach 100% gpu and also vram usage you are going to get really bad stutters.

I have the same problem ( I think) quite often. What I do is I pause the sim, go to game settings and lower the resolution, save, go back to the sim, then I confirm the shaking has stopped and its all smooth again. Then I go back into settings and restore the resolution to my higher preferred settings, return to the sim and it remains smooth. Don't know why this works but it does ( at least for me)
