Calisthenics will teach you to strongly move and control your own body while weights teach you how to use your body to move your environment. Both ways will teach valuable skills to anyone and each have their own moments of badassery to behold!

Absolutely, calisthenics and weight training are both great for you but what people always talk about shouldn't even be the discussion as far as which one is better; simply because it's debatable depending only on what your personal goal is health-wise. The discussion should be whether it's better to do calisthenics first and become great at that and then lift weights afterwards or if it's better to just start off lifting weights and become great at that then do calisthenics afterwards? If you did either method you would take your body to Peaks you didn't even know it had. This is one of the reasons why a lot of guys that are in prison and sometimes the military when they come out tend to be so ridiculously jacked and often have superior conditioning to anybody regardless of the fact that they didn't have the best means of nutrition etc. it's like an equivalent to real life Super Broly s***. Sorry to delve slightly off of topic though great video bro lol.

I like doing a combination of both, with a slight lean towards calisthenics. My daily routine involves 200 crunches/30 leg raises while my breakfast cooks in the microwave, and then depending on the day later come back with a workout focusing on either upper body exercises, lower body exercises, or some other form of exercise (running, rock climbing, circuit work, etc). Never understood why some are so adamant against one or the other; unless you're training to be a power lifter, an optimised routine incorporating both is the most balanced way to exercise.

Okay m8, first thing's first I have to say, I absolutely adore you and the channel to death. Seeing a person be essentially the physical embodiment of my two favorite hobbies (anime & training) makes me feel like i'm not the only person in the world who feels so strongly about these things. I basically never comment on KZbin9 for shit, but now I have to make an exception. The thing i want you to know is, the one thing that separates you from most other bodybuilding channels that i watch (in my honest opinion), is your goddamn enthusiasm. Whilst lots of other channels ooze with vanity and reek of the prospect of selling their product for a quick buck as soon as possible, you give of this (in a very positive light) child-like amazement and excited-ness in what you do, how you train, and the fact that you improve yourself every single day. Please never stop what you are doing :D With all that being said, I have a question or two xD I'm the type of person that really likes to read up a lot on things and gain a lot of theoretical knowledge on a subject before try it out. Do you have any recommendation on things i should read up if i genuinely want to really get into bodybuilding or calisthenics? Or maybe what are some books that you might have read from your studies that you could recommend? I basically want to learn about the body and bodybuilding from the ground up :D Once again, thanks for all that you do, and I look forward to your future vids ;)

nice vid jax! i personally prefer calisthenics because im a rock climber which is a bodyweight based sport so theres more carry over, although i still used weights sometimes either to be a more rounded athlete or to make calisthenics exercises harder

Hey man, I think u should have a guide for fighting physique and techniques as well. I always hear you speak on the shonen characters that fight through most situations and yes while most you have made workouts for in your series tough like the toonz, I feel for a down to earth fighting routine that is easily accessible at almost any time. I know you went into this a bit in your Baki Hanma workout for conditioning but watching this made me realize yes while weighted training helps power and calisthenics builds your body as a whole, I feel that a pure conditioning fighting guide would help people more in that area of expertise. Take this into consideration, have fun with the idea, and big fan keep on going man👌

I like both, but most of my workouts are body weight based. Also, video idea: is going by time better than going by reps?

I prefer calisthenics myself for a few reasons. Main ones being that I don't really have access to a lot of weights and other such materials at home and finding the time to go to a gym to use weights is difficult and as you said expensive. Also I prefer to stay a bit more on the lean side and train more for just muscular endurance and body control. However those that lift weights I have huge amounts of respect for because they have the will to add that extra bit of strain on that one specific muscle group and that can be insanely useful. So all in all I say do what works best for you and be respectful to those that train differently than you might. But doing both would probably be best. Great video man keep it up.
