Really not surprised by the verdict, there is no real car guy on the planet who didn‘t like the GR Yaris after learning more about it. And yes it‘s hella fun to drive in Summer with good tires. Also the aftermarket is big, tires/ suspension makes this car so much faster!

Awesome vid. Remember this is a rally car built for rally. Strong engine per litre as well. It's a beast Gen 2 has fixed the mirrors and lowered the seat and centre screen. Gen 2 definitely worth a drive 👌🏻 hello from south africa

Evo IX FQ360 owner here. After many years of ownership this is the first car I've been tempted to sell mine to buy because of circuit pack and warranty. But. No. Less power, fewer cylinders, less everything. More plastic. Love these cars, don't get me wrong but if it's this with warranty or an Evo... Evoooooo! And the Evo is going up in value. And those who say you can't daily an Evo can't really afford a rally car lol... We need less electronics to enjoy proper driving, not more. I can't get over the three cylinders, these will be over stressed and in years to come people will realise how strong the Evo engine is in comparison. These won't do the mileage. Mark my words. In fact I'd even buy two Subarus instead of one of the Yaris and I have been over Subarus for a long time lol

The GR Yaris is especially in dry conditions very capable since you can throw a 255 semi slick square setup on it and with decent coil overs and a good setup it will do with stock power easily sub 8 times on the ring. I’ve seen 7:30-7:40 with stock power which is absolutely insane. Cheers

Great cars. Driven a few of them, some stock, a one around 340bhp, and a 550bhp fully forged car. All great at what they do, there are some small issues that need resolving (Valve Springs), but most people upgrade the cam and spring, then it stops the valve float at higher RPM. I think Sheepman needs to buy one, forge it, aftermarket ECU, all the bolt-one and then send it in the mountains!!

glad to see that youtubers are not all totally unknowledgeable and some are aware that small car doesn't necessary mean short wheelbase. a friend of mine that used to race in Australia's time attack championship with an evo asked to see the how the yaris feels behind the steering wheel on the track. his conclusion was the same "it is a modern time evo"

I'm so mad we don't get these in the states. Sure, we have the GR Corolla, but the GR Yaris is much more special with its direct rally roots and bespoke lightweight body. I got to drive one twice on a racetrack in Japan, and it's absolutely amazing. Great driving!!

Hopefully someone will let you to try a 2024 model which I heard is noticeably better than older model and pretty similar to Evo. The newer model has around 13% more spot welds and 24% more glue, providing greater chassis stiffness. Also the 4x4 software was tuned a little bit.

I tested the old model and this one against each other and you can definitely feel a difference. These were delivered like 2 months prior to the facelift. Thats why both are 2024.

Hatte in den letzten 25Jahren zahlreiche EVO´s und STI´s in allen möglichen Evolutions- und Ausbaustufen als Track- und Funtool. Fakt ist aber dass diese Autos mittlerweile alle über 20 Jahre alt sind und entweder zu Tode gebastelt oder in einem unbezahlbarem Sammlerzustand sind. Hab nun seit gut 2 Jahren einen GR Yaris der ausschließlich im "Volllastbetrieb" 😜 - Sommer wie Winter - auf Trackdays und Passstraßen bewegt wird. Völlig problemlos, mit Toyota-Garantie, Vollkasko versichert und legal zugelassen. Für mich z.Z. das mit Abstand beste Preis/Spassfaktor Gerät und in dieser Preisliga absolut alternativlos!!

Im so happy i still got my 2005 Subaru WRX STI in my Garage, i FUCKING LOVE THIS CAR. Sometimes i just unpack it in the Garage (yes i use a Garageblanket for it) and just look at it and it still gives my goosebumps. Probably the best car i ever owned and i will never ever sell it. Its just a labour of love, i fixed everything myself and it gets driven very hard in the summer when its nice outside.

do not forget to consider gr corolla, if i do not mistaken, it has the same engine-drive train combination as the gr yaris and even more power. in my opinion, if you are planning on taking more passengers, gr corolla might be a better choice, but i have no clue, whether it is available in eu.

That little GR Yaris is a great little cool looking car. Although it’s sad that the GR Corolla isn’t offered on European soil. It offers a little more space as for trunk/boot space and passengers. And I believe it offers more torque and horsepower as well. I would love to have both cars

I am a GR Yaris lover, but let's be honest. Not even close to an evo. There is no comparison out there, and will ever be. An evo is an effective machine with the feeling of an old school car. If you go older than an evo (escort cosworth, integrale...) it won't be as effective, and if you go newer, it won't have as much feeling. They were in the perfect era. Everything in the yaris is diluted. But yeah, it is as good as a rally car for road can be with nowadays regulations. Hats off for Toyota.

Toyota made a really great car, no doubt about that 👍 Let alone the power output of this small 1.6 Liter 3-cylinder engine -> 👏 And Toyota was brave enough to let the car look like a proper Rally Car, so again hats off to the guys from Toyota 🙏 I was, am and ever will be a huge fan of the Evo‘s (and especially your Evo ❤❤❤) but you probably can nothing do wrong if you buy the Toyota GR Yaris. 👍 My biggest problem, literally, is the size of it, cause I am a bit taller than most people (200cm) so I do sadly not really fit into this car 🥴🤷🏻‍♂️ If I would be smaller and hadn’t a wife and two (as me) tall kids I would probably buy one of these cars. GR Yaris is probably the best car produced the last decade or more. It has nailed the tracks on time attack from the beginning. A lot of people tuned it and "send it to the moon". It's not that reliable, I can tell that, but if you take care of it, you probably won't have serious issues. Evo, it's not one of the best cars ever made, it's THE best car ever made (specially the IX). ❤️❤️❤️ Can you think anything else that has so perfect powertrain? Can you think a car that has a limitless amount of parts and you can do anything you want with it (drag, track, street race, whatever)? No, there is no other car like Evo...😊

Yeah engine replacement…. I blew up my standard engine at Paul riccard, quoted about that much for a new one from Toyota. It was oil starvation under breaking, and It blew a hole through the crank case and spat oil under the car through the high speed right at the end of the straight and it went up in flames. Loved the car until that happened lol

I have been waiting for this video for a year now i have a picanto which is 84hp 1.25 I4 and this is my dream hatchback, i really do abuse the picanto and drive like a rally car on my daily drives going to and back from university my avg speed is 120 in city maxing out at 150kph but it max out at 195kph when the weather is cold thank you schaefchen. 😁😎
