I bought this about 4 months ago and I love it! The biggest thing for me is the FM radio. At first I was like "Oh, that's a cool feature I guess but I probably won't ever use it." I was wrong, I use the radio pretty much every time I ride. Audio can be a little quiet for highway speeds if you have a windy dual sport helmet such as myself but I can still hear it. I used the velcro mount and so mine comes right off to charge separate from my helmet. Intercom between two of these is also excellent. I convinced a friend to get the same one and we were shocked how much of the wind and engine noise it reduced. This device cannot however have you talking to three people. Only two people can talk at a time. If this is not a problem for you I would very highly suggest this communicator for everyday use or long trips. Yammie hit a lot of the points, I just wanted to second his opinions.

At 70-80mph the music is audible with earplugs although not particularly loud or crisp. Works fine for background music, not so well for podcasts or talk radio. It really shines in 10-40mph traffic! It makes the slow parts of my commute much more bearable.

I have this unit and overall am very pleased with it’s performance. As with any helmet mounted speaker system the quality of sound you get has a lot to do with the placement of the speakers in relationship to your ears. The closer you can place the speakers to the ear the better. For best overall sound make sure speakers actually touching your ears and aligned with the ear canal as close as possible. If I have a issue with the design it has to do with the size and placement of the volume controls. They are close together, and very hard to find and use with heavy gloves on. This controls also serve multiple purposes, volume, song change, and pause/start music functions. Another feature missing is the ability to voice control my iPhone to ask Siri to do things like selecting someone from my contacts to call, requisition directions via maps or starting and stoping music play hands free. Also when I paired the intercom to my buddies Sena unit, I could not find a way for me to start an intercom session. If the Sena started the intercom session all worked very well, but I had no control of the intercom at all. So between the lack of ability to voice control your phone functions and the total lack of control of the intercom sessions if paired to different brand unit make this a total fail in my book. If you ride solo and never want to communicate with riders with other brands of Blue Communicators or voice control your phone then go for it.

Have Been Using this communicator for about 3 months now. Has surpassed my expectations especially during highway rides. The voice and music is pretty clear and audible upto 85-90 mph. My only gripe is that only similar devices can be paired. Will not connect to a sena or other communicators. Also, haven't has the chance to test the waterproofing on the build. But I don't think that would be necessary for 110 degree az weather. All in all, definitely worth way more than its cost.

Got the same device from "gearbest.com". Had it for 6 months only. One issue that no one addresses is that charging and headphone-mic jack port is common. after repeated charging cycles the charging um headphone-mic got deteriorated. I have read, seen multiple reviews for this device, but not even a single person mentioned this problem. What should I conclude from that(were those reviews paid?). One thing I must admit is that the quality of the sound during calls is as good as any other branded Bluetooth intercom. at 60mph(~100 kmph), the person i was talking to couldn't tell that i was on a bike. But don't expect audiophile quality for listening your favorite music. audio quality of songs being played was even worse to some of the basic(generic) headphones. You cant even tell if the mids are being played on it. Battery life is good. A month before throwing it into the garbage (before the charging/headphone jack deteriorated because of repeated insertion and removal of charging and headphone-mic cable ), I played songs for 4 continuous hours before the battery died. My conclusion is that this is a purpose built device made primarily for using you phone to make and take calls while riding. Other then that don't expect anything from it. And at they price at which they are being offered, its enough for them. But my point is that the device is not good if it lasts only for short period of time. most of the e-commerce companies are getting the same device from Chinese manufacturers. Who ever made this device and other devices like this, should have added separate ports for charging and headphone connection. That's the main and my only gripe with this device. Ever since I have been searching for other Bluetooth intercom device like this which is waterproof and has separate ports for charging and headphone connection, but haven't found anything yet. Every other china made Bluetooth intercom is based on the same concept

I have been using this for around 8 months now and I think it's great value, I got two, for me and my mate, audio is great and communication has not been an issue. I use it for audio every day for my commute to work, just pairing it with my s5. only fault I have is the charging cable is a unique plug, I wish it had a standard mini USB. but for the price.. it's great!!

Hi, The audio plug has went dodgy last week, it still charges fine but the audio would stop and then i'd wiggle the plug around (as it connects to the unit) and the audio would come back, i'd let go and it cuts out again.. I plan on taking it to an electronics repair shop, probably dry solder on the connections. a week without music so far.. =(

I got myself one of these for xmas and been riding with it since mid January. Was great till this last week the main port on the device(where the charger and headset plug in) started acting up and then stopped working. Other than that, it's been fine. Voice calls are very good even at high speed. I have both a quiet sport bike and a loud dual pipe cruiser. I hear people loud and clear. People I have talked to can't hear any back ground noise when I'm on the sport bike. When I'm on the cruiser they can hear the pipes in the background, but it's only 1/4 the volume of my voice. For $40, I just ordered it again. Can't beat that price.

Update: Unit: I received the BT-S2. It took 16 calendar days (12 business days) with the free shipping. It comes in a nice, compact and sturdy box (as small cardboard boxes go). All the parts were there. The whole thing is just as described in Yammie Noob's video. FYI: Yammie Noob is right: if you use the hard plastic mount, the device does not have a quick-release--you would have to unfasten the two screws to pull it off the helmet. Not a big deal. However, while the back of the unit is nicely curved, there are so many helmets that it probably won't make full contact with your particular model. So, if you do the hard mount, I recommend putting a thin adhesive-backed foam pad on the back of the unit for a better fit and eliminate any possible vibration. I'll probably do the final mounting with the included velcro fastener which then make removal easy and deals with any vibrations, too. The main unit weighs just a couple ounces, it's really quite light. Mounting: YMMV: Mounting the earphones and microphone is a lot tougher. I have never been able to successfully mount a helmet system before, the last time I tried was with an older Chatterbox system (pre-Bluetooth and about 3-4X bigger than BT-S2). My current helmet is a Shoei X-Eleven. The cheek pads and center pad are all removable with some snaps and some "slip-fit" plastic sections. Because of the snaps, I'm having difficulty fitting the earphones in exactly the right spot to prevent pain. Also, they are a bit thick, I may have to press in the EPS just a smidge with the back of spoon to get the right fitment. But that's MY helmet, not necessarily a design flaw. On the other hand, while the boom-mike (the style you see on flip-up and open-face helmets) sits well in the chinbar without contacting my mouth, the mounting piece is another story. With the usual full-face helmet headsets, the mic is only attached by a wire, so all you need to do is mount the mic and hide the wire. On the BT-S2, there's a medium-hard rubber disk on the tail end attached to a bendable boom and if you tuck it in under the pads, the disc can interfere with the left earphone placement but again, that is my helmet, yours might slip in easily.(you can only mount the mic on the left). Other possible mountings: velcro the disc to the *outside* of the helmet (perfectly acceptable); veclor it to the bottom side of the left cheek pad (maybe okay); carefully cut off the "disc" (likely my final choice)--it won't remove the boom though I guess one could take a chance trying to cut that off but it is a spiral-wound piece of rubber-covered METAL so that would take some real effort to achieve without cutting the wire. Operation: The buttons are simple (and only take maybe 10 minutes to learn at the most but you might need to refresh yourself if you don't start using it right away. Bluetooth pairing? Simple. Multiple pairings? I haven't tried that. FM radio? Great! But you have to sequence your way to a station you want to listen to, there are no presets or local/DX settings. Otherwise, that's the extent of my testing. I still need to finalize the installation but I'm sure I'll get that figured out and it will work on the road just as Yammie Noob described. Bottom line: even without road testing, this is definitely a STEAL OF A DEAL.

How's audio quality? What kinds of music did you test is with, how does it sound?
@bobbybob34477 жыл бұрын
It's pretty good! I turn my cellphone volume all the way up and then turn the BT-S2 volume all the way up. I can hear at 120 mph+ but at that point it's not that loud. However, you have to understand that I always wear earplugs, plus you're riding on a motorcycle--engine noise, traffic noise, wind noise, so you're just not going to get high-end audio quality with ANY BT system. The only way you're going to get that is with custom-fit silicone ear monitors which will run you at least $300 and don't have a microphone and connect to your audio device with a cord (like standard earbuds). Unlike earbuds, custom ear monitors are also noise attenuators (i.e. earplugs). Don't ride with earbuds.

I've had THREE of these and they all die the same. You start by losing your mic, then audio on one side, then the other. The fault lies with a small piece in the plug that moves ever so slightly. I've learnt how to open them and repair it but it's a major hassle. I've literally glued it with super glue last time but it just started failing again today.

I managed to amply the sound by taking a cheap pair of soft earmuffs, from an old pair headphones Beats style, and connecting them over the speakers. They channel the noise straight to my ears and are pretty loud afterwards.

Too many things not covered to compare. Does it do voice commands? Can you talk with all three people on intercom at the same time? Noise canceling? Do you have to Push to Talk like.on some cheap communicators? Are replacement parts available? Vendor support? I use a Sena 10R. It is super low profile and small with three easy to locate buttons. That thing (and the SMH10) is huge. I only ride dirt bikes. That big of unit would likely get ripped off of my helmet when cutting through trees and face slappers. I will stick with the Sena low profile units.

So I could connect this to my phone via Bluetooth for music and communicate with a riding buddy at the same time? How are the speakers for music audio?

I'm going to do an 18 hour ride shortly. You talked about charging but can I charge this while riding should die in route with a USB??

Hi! Great review. I have been using this product for 3 weeks now. Today I noticed that at the point where the device is attached to the helmet using the sticky pad, some sticky fluid has crept out from the sticky pad. I was quite surprised to see this because I also connect GoPro mounts using sticky pads and I have not noticed this there. What could be the reason for the sticky liquid to emanate from the sticky pad outside its surface area?

Its not a proper 3M-sticky thing

I get this since 2 month. Great for only music, quality is good for this price. Installation is easy. But buttons are very hard to touch with gloves, and not very responsive, I have no feeling to touch buttons... At high speed the volume is enough strong to be hear. The autonomy is very good ! Used them during 3-4h, and one time forget to shut it down during the night .... and it was working at the morning ! The only thing I don't have success is the intercom mode....I have never suceed to pair it with another intercom of my friend (of another brand), the BT stay on bluetooth mode and haven't a "search mode"...Is this only for 2 same intercom ?

Is it unreasonable to think that some universal mic+speakers with miniusb could be used?
@Fredward19868 жыл бұрын
It has it's own weird connector, not a mini or micro USB, very annoying. Mine also stopped charging after about 2 weeks.

I bought this in order to be able to make phone calls while I'm riding. It doesn't do that. You can only dial the last number dialed. You can redial. That's it. You can't activate "ok google" or siri or whatever using this, is that right? As much as I've tried and tried to figure it out, it doesn't seem to have the capability. I need to be able to call other people besides the last one dialed so basically this headset is useless to me.

Yes, you can make calls by activating "Ok Google." I just got this for the main purpose of communicating with my phone while riding for making or answering phone calls, navigation, etc. I have it paired with an Android phone and am running the Android Auto app while riding. On my phone I open the Android Auto settings and choose to activate "OK Google" from any screen. Then while you're riding you only have to say "OK Google" into the mic and then tell it to call anyone in your contact list or any phone number. Or tell it to give you directions to any location. Seems to work fine. There may be other ways to do it too, I'm not sure. I just got this and haven't gotten it totally figured out yet.

One question, is it loud enough? it sounds like it and that's all I care about
@richmccallable7 жыл бұрын
James Sever I managed to amply the sound by taking a cheap pair of soft earmuffs, from an old pair headphones Beats style, and connecting them over the speakers. They channel the noise straight to my ears and are pretty loud afterwards.

Thanks Yammie. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Any chance you used it with an iPhone? If so does it work with Siri at all?

That's what I wanted to hear. Now I will probably go for it. Any chance you used it with the iPhone and a GPS at the same time? Hoping it will work with my BMW Navigator.

Well you just scored yourself an affiliate sale. When I come to America one day you can buy me beer/coffee with the commission. And if you ever come out to South Africa I'm sure I can arrange a bike for you. :)

How do you switch between riders if you are riding with 3 people and can only link between 2 at a time? Thanks, Dave
@unintentionalsquid12588 жыл бұрын
When I click your link it goes to the option with the EU Plug. I am guessing it is the type of plug to go to the power outlet right? I want to get 2 US Plug versions but I am not sure if the affiliate link will work if I change it over to the US plug. Any idea?

Do they only connect to the same product or will I be able to talk to someone with a SENA? All my riding buddy's have sena's but I don't have the budget.
@shockerct44338 жыл бұрын
The website says you need the same communicator, so it does work with a Sena? My friend already has a Sena, so if it does not work it's a waste of $40. So it does in fact work?
