Honest review of Sena SMH5 vs. sena smh10

I have been riding with my Sena for about a year now. These are my thoughts about the unit and what I would change if I had to do it over. If you have any questions feel free to comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

How can you switch between the phone navigator and the partner with smh5 sitting behind you? Or can you listen to the phone navigator and at the same time talk with your mate?

It is an old device, did you have problems with connection with new phones that have bluetooth 5 and higher? Do you think that newer device for the same money (cardo spirit) would be better?

Cardo os definitely a better device, but it’s also much more expensive. I have no issues with the sena device at all. They have been great. They are so hard to connect to cardo so just keep that in mind

How about the weather. Is it fully waterproof while riding in heavy rain?

Well, that’s the question we all have. Sena doesn’t claim it’s waterproof, but my experience has been positive. Iv ridden in very heavy rain many times and it still works.

Great review.. a question... can the passenger listen to music whilst the rider listens to sat nav? Or would both have to hear the same thing?

Thanks John, I haven’t tried to listen to music and navigation with a passenger. I know you can use the “multitasking” feature to have a conversation and share music with your Passenger, but I haven’t don’t it while using sat nav. I’m sure you can, although I wouldn’t recommend doing all that at once as it can be distracting.

@@AmericanAbroad1 hi tahbks for tbe reply.. personally i dont want the music and would prefer sat nav / voice with passwnger but im sure they would prefer music / voice if that makes sense .. i will get a set soon and try it… no loss if i cant do it :) thankyou for the reply

If your rider is paired to there phone then they can do whatever and just chime in when they want to talk or you can pair up together and you listen to whatever the other person has. You can listen to music and use gps on your phone at the same time but if you take a phone call or talk to your other rider then you will hace to look at your gps
