I don’t understand these. Isn’t your forehead, nose, chin, and lower cheeks still susceptible to the sun? It seems these patches only cover and protect the upper cheeks

People buy these for beauty to prevent freckles not to prevent overall sun damage. These products don't make sense at all for people who're looking for actual functional sun protection.

I absolutely love the golf patch ones! I'm a very pale red head who deals with rosacea so by default i'm a sun protection junkie. I bought them last summer when I was in the pool all day and they lasted just about all day even when they got wet! This in conjuction with sunscreen and a big hat was exactly what I needed to protect my face from the sun! 10 out of 10 the golf patches are the best!

I think the current product is a nice milestone. I agree with your conclusion with heavy emphasis on people who spend a lot of time outdoors - especially the reusable sun patches. I wonder what the long term effects of using these patches are. I know some of them have skin care feats, but will they be able to prevent acne? I would be concerned about congestion of sweat and oils underneath or maybe even fungal acne (i’m not an expert in the causes of these types of acne but i know i used to get of forehead and hairline acne when wearing hats and sweating). I am also biased in my opinions about the reusable products, because I think technology should be able to enhance what is exists already. For example, I’m not going to limit my facial movements for talking and expressions because I want to keep the patch in place. I also don’t want to keep checking it to make sure it’s taught or smooth. Maybe I would consider the reusable patches if I were on an outdoors adventure alone… which is rare :/ I’m very curious to see what other prototypes there are, especially if they’re along the lines of the franz sun patches! ☺️

Anti UV hats seems more suitable for me, for outdoors activies. Some will cover your all face and neck leaving a small window to see, that you could cover with sunglasses. It will be cheaper and more efficient.

I do mountain bike meaning sometimes I get a lot of sun exposure and will definitely be trying the clear ones on the areas I tend to get more hyperpigmentation as a reinforcement to my sunscreen. 🥰

I think that the technology is interesting when it comes to these patches, but that’s about it. It’s a lot of waste, it quickly gets expensive except for the re-useable. Btw, does it say on the package how many times you can use them? Over all it’s a no for me, but I’m excited for what’s to come in the future of sun protection. 💕

My friend helped me to buy the same of these UV protection patches in Japan. It's their local products that have been around for a while. it's exactly like the Franz one but so so so much cheaper. The catch is that it looks like a roll of tape :)) so you have to cut to how you like it to be. not as fancy as Franz. but u save a ton

This product makes no sense. One of the drawbacks of sunscreen when it gets very hot is that suffocating feeling. These patches are even worse than sunscreen, especially with sweat. These patches would be a sensory nightmare. People will be less inclined to reapply sunscreen, if they have to also deal with reapplying it around patches. The most vulnerable, wrinkle prone areas of the face are still exposed, so what's the point? I don't think most people desire to combine treatment with sunscreen especially when it's very hot outside, and would prefer to administer treatment as a separate step when they aren't dealing with the sun. A plain old effective sunscreen would offer better protection for the entire face. Reapplication would be necessary with or without these patches, so again...what's the point? This seems very gimmicky.

I have sun allergy, i just wear a big hat, long sleeve, spf 100+ and if i have to do a long walk i have my sunshade. I have rosacea, sebderm & fungal acne these patches look nightmarish for my skin 😅

I see ppl wearing face gaiters at the beach. It's giving the movie spring breakers vibes but i could never wear that im too intimidated. I did however buy a sun shield like korean women became known to wear .face shield for uv protection and some covid protection.

Thanks for your insights :) as someone whose partner golfs, he enjoys wearing a hat more and would likely be interested in trying the patches. they are very expensive at the moment, will probably get him to wear sunscreen and reapply / find shade + wear a hat when sun is hottest (12pm to 4pm)

On beach holidays I use k-beauty sun patches on my cheek area on top of my mineral sun screen as I have melasma and don’t want to take chances (I also use a wide brimmed UPF hat)

Yes insofar as the area is covered / protected. I have found them helpful and I am not self-conscious wearing them. Even managed to covert a couple of (female) family members!

I'd be interested due to my rosacea. Even with two layers of SPF 60, my face can still react 😢. Perhaps these could be a good alternative on those super sunny 🌞 days that I *have* to go out.

I think because our skin excretes oil, breaking down the spf overtime, whereas when it's on the patch, there will be no need to reapply

the problem w these is because they aren't for your whole face, you still have to reapply sunscreen overtop during the day if youre out. is it just for like ultimate protection in certain areas?

i have a question.. why do i get tan even after applying sunscreen? like i genuinely want to know .. i have really oily skin but i use a sunscreen which is suitable for my skin still i ended up with a little bit of tan the other day

Meant to add that for a few people with Melasma, having a hat on increases their forehead melasma. (From the extra heat and friction.) So if your hyperpigmentation is from actual melasma I would test a small patch for a while to see if it does that to you.

Sorry, sunscreen is a daily need. I can't buy a single-use, single plastic packaged item that regularly. Maybe occasionally for high exposure days (i do get a sheet mask treat every 1-2 months, so i won't pretend to be that conscious) but it just doesn't feel worth it, especially since most of these aren't even protecting the nose bridge

This does not look comfortable at all. What happens when you smile? does the patch wrinkle up, does your face feel like there is tape on it. I will use regular sunscreen!
