To be fair, Thestalos is searchable via Small World with one of the Vassals as a bridge coz they all share 1000 DEF. Not to mention, BIG, BIG, BIG Thestalos is an amazing game closer if you get your opponent down to 4000 LP, coz after the 1000 LP burn, you can banish Thestalos himself to deal 3000 damage.

I like the sort of "escalation" theme with the Monarchs. The monsters have gotten so big that, at this point, the only logical step forward is to just start fusing them together. The card itself is pretty good and it opens up a potential path for any new support in the future.

I feel like this is a prelude to more Monarch support, specifically in the vein of combining different Monarch's effects into one and improving them and having them be Kurikara-like in tributing opponent's monsters and your own tribute summoned monster. Then giving spells that interact with 3000 Atk 1000 Def monsters (of which only 4 exist, a cloudian, myutant, nephyths ritual and DDD)

So monarchs now basically have a recoverable kaiju that has non targeting non destruction removal for both the hand and field. That's 3 cards for the cost of 1 tribute summon that can set up more plays and disruption during your opponents turn. And it will turn into a 3800 beater with Domain on field which is cool I guess. This is definitely gonna be a one of in my monarch deck.

The issue is Kaijus you want to use at the start of the turn. This card does literally nothing into an established board because YOU need to already have a tribute summoned monster on board.

I have to wonder why they didn't give it 3200 ATK. Not only would that make it fit the pattern of each new "tier" of Monarchs going up 400 ATK, Domain would boost it to 4000 ATK, letting it trade with boss monsters that the Mega Monarchs can't handle just like the Mega Monarchs can beat over the next "tier" of high-ATK monsters over the OG Monarchs. As it is, the only thing Thestalos can beat over that a Mega Monarch can't is Gate Guardian.

That's why all the support for the monsters is based on stats and not on name, because the OCG name for "Monarch" (the monsters, which is just straight up "Monarch") is not the same as the OCG name for "Monarch" (the backrow, which is more like "Monarch's", or "of the Monarch"). There is not a single card that supports "Monarch" monsters specifically, and all of the Japanese cards use the backrow naming scheme, thus they are a series and not an archetype Same way Cyberdark monsters and Cyberdark backrow are technically different archetypes (their backrow in the OCG is called "Cyber Dark", while their monsters are "Cyberdark")

​@@cdgames69 Technically you are correct. But Monarch is an Archetype, Just an archetype before Archetypes were a thing. 2400/1000 and then 2800/1000 is their "Archetype", Monarch, and Mega monarchs. Just because there is no "Monarch" search target for Monarch monsters, dosen't exclude them from an archetype. An archetype is a group of cards (usually released around the same time) that act similarly, and share a similar theme. "F.A." gains levels, "U.A" tag out into eachother. "psyframe" play around the fact their best card is used in other decks and at risk of being banned. "Counter fairy" is an archetype, But it sorta got sucked up into the "parshath" archetype, since Parshath is now the big fairy beatstick.

@@cdgames69You have a point but that conventional way of thinking is a bit outdated. Essentially considering the myriad of deck types out there that break those conventions. How I see it all archetypes must follow these rules to quality: 1. They must have a group name. This is mandatory. (Examples: Hero, Harpy, Battery Man, etc) 2. They must have more than 5 cards in said archetype. Also mandatory. 3. The cards must synergize well enough with each other. ( I say well enough because Ice Barriers have little to no synergy or theming yet is still considered an archetype. Speaking of which.....) 4. Must have a proper theming. (There are exceptions like Ice Barriers. Can you tell that I hate Ice Barriers?!! Because I do!!!! Just the main deck cards though.)

My assumption is there will be some new Spell/Traps that will help in the design of these new fusion of Monarchs. Konami has always been doing that every time something like this happens. What makes you think they will completely do something they have never done before? Also, I think the pattern is within the lvl between the Mega Monarch and their fusion series, assuming we get all the combinations, and the fact that it's technically not an upgrade because the monster that was revealed is a fusion of 2 monsters that are either in their original form (or OG), their Mega forms (which I don't think Caius in particular has one, therefore the reason only Thestalos is mentioned in the name), or a Mega and original form (which is the case for the previous note) . All of the Mega Monarchs are lvl 8 and this particular monster is lvl 10. The difference being by 2 lvls, therefore a 200 ATK stat is applied. However, you can also say that in lore sense since Caius didn't have a Mega form, he is therefore weak (in the stats) and would weaken the full potential of Thestalos fused with 'em. Could also be a math formula thing (hopefully not complicated).

This is weird cuz in GX anime The Duelista the used Thestalos was the Best Friend of the Duelist that Used Grannmarg... the Should do a fusion of thouse two like "Granthalos the Grand Firestorm Monarch", and then a Fusion of Zaborg and Mobius (It's Mobin Time!!!) like "Zabius The Cold Thunder Monarch" and at last a fusion of Raiza and Caius "Raius the Shadow Storm Monarch"

Even though this can be Summoned or recovered by Ehther and Erebus respectively, there's no good way using him immediately. If summoned of ehther, you have to both find a way to bounce him after being summoned and gain an additional normal/tribute summon. There's also no good way to mill monarchs. Only by dumping them from hand by The First Monarch or with the fire Vassal

I made a Mobius the Blizzard Monarch which is basically a HFD that banishes anything it destroys, then, if you Tribute a Level 8+ monster to summon it, you can stack 1 card your opponent controls atop the Deck (I.E. a bonus Raiza effect). It also cannot be responded to with Spells/Traps.

I wish it didn't say it needed to tribute a tributed-summoned monster you control and an opponent's monster. Could've been a new wave of kaiju-like cards that are potentially playable outside of monarch decks. It basically makes these cards nigh unplayable in the current meta because going second they're basically just regular monarchs, and we already know regular monarchs suck ass when going second because it's almost impossible to get two monsters on the field through your opponents inevitable 5 negate board. Or you drew dark ruler, in which case these new cards aren't making a difference you're either winning that game with the current cards or you bricked, which this card also does not help.

If Konami really want this card to have 3000 atk, just slab it to the card effect. Like "Gain 200 or 600 atk for each tribute summoned monster on your side of the field". Why even play this when you can't search it. In a deck that prone to brick.
