I use the cowboy mount but always mount from the left side. I learned at a young age that horses are trained to be mounted from the left and treat my iron horse with the same respect. I don't know how the manufacturer trained my bike so why risk it.

The cowboy mount is the standard mount I use when riding my bicycles (I have several) but I'm not confident enough to try it on my motorcycle... just the thought of the cost of having to have any damage from a drop repaired freaks me out.
@jridenour31 Жыл бұрын
If you can do it on a bicycle, you're not going to drop a motorcycle. If anything, it would be more difficult on a bicycle because your foot isn't in one permanent location, it's changing positions as you pedal.

@@jridenour31 mate.....no one pedals while doing it on bicycle.

@JohnSmith-fo5cx The only way you can do it without pedaling is by pushing the bike to get it moving and that doesn't count.

Just one thing to consider .when you leave your bike out in public the steering is locked to the left.normally mounting from left the first thing I do is unlock steering .this allows the steering to be turned to the right to make it easier to lift and straiten heavy bike

@jridenour31 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why the first is called "newbie." If I see somebody do that, I definitely don't think "noob." I'm used to throwing my right leg over and putting my foot directly on the kickstarter so getting on from the right feels weird. You're also less likely to drop the bike if you let the kickstand hold the bike up instead of trying to balance it while you're getting on. I'm 6'1" and don't need to use the pegs as a step. The "cowboy" is fun on occasion but not very practical. I typically sit on my bike with it idling in neutral while I'm putting on the rest of my gear. I'm never off to the side of my bike running in 1st with the clutch pulled.
