I had the same issues with numb hands as you described in your previous video. After watching the video I tried a very thin grip. I was sceptical but it worked. Done about 200 kilometres on thin grips with no numbness. I don't do off road riding, all my cycling is urban, if that matters.

Great information I really appreciate it. After watching your grip videos , I’ve decided to keep my old grips(slide-on), they work great. 👍🙏

@Heath Gentry - Thanks - glad you liked it! I'm enjoying my slim slide-on grips too. It's funny I've only recently found them.

Best thing I have done for hand numbness and arm pump is a coil conversion in my fork. Can’t believe the difference coil makes by getting ride of the small bumb chatter that air springs actually amplify! I think that and the one up carbon high rise bar and deity lock jaw grips have made it so I can ride longer and faster than I ever have definitely recommend!

@Nick Jones - Thanks for the good tips. I'm not familiar with coil conversions for the fork. It sounds interesting.

Great video with awesome points! I suffer from Carpel tunnel so having a proper setup is critical. I use the Oneup Grips.

@DEM's Biking Adventures - Thanks! It's funny how much effort you have to put into the little details when your body doesn't want to cooperate. And I'm super excited to try the Oneup bars, they seem like a cool company.

I’ve been chasing problems with numb hands. I recently watched a video from Joy of Bike with Alex Bogusky that discussed handlebar sweep. After measuring my natural wrist angle, I’m giving the SQLab 30x bar with 16° sweep. They look odd and I had to move to a longer stem to keep my reach similar. My wife is a PT and keeps preaching core strengthening. Hopefully I’ll get some relief soon.

@Andy Mullins - I just looked up the bar you mentioned, and I see what you mean. 16° backsweep is massive. Have you noticed a difference with them yet? And I have to agree about core strength, I started incorporating lower back exercises recently. I hope it helps reduce some of my fatigue when riding. Thanks for the info!

@@elroobike Tonight will be my first ride on them. I'll let you know how it goes. Along with core strengthening, I'm also going to start carpal tunnel syndrome therapy exercises.

@@elroobike After a month of riding with the 16 sweep bars, I think it helps but isn't the cure. I've combined them with the ESI Fit SG grips which effectively makes the sweep a little more. With the combo the numbness seems to come on slower but usually comes after awhile. The main thing I have to watch is keeping my weight off my hands as much as possible.

@@andym436 That's super interesting. I've been looking for a 16-17 sweep bar to experiment with and only found the Salsa Bend bar. Does the increased sweep change the way you descend? I'm picturing a different weight balance on the bars.

@@elroobike The SQLab bars make the reach a touch shorter so I went 10mm longer on my stem. I may have needed 20mm longer but I didn't have a 70mm around to try. Descending doesn't feel any different to me. In fact I was 2 seconds off a new PR on a local downhill trail on my last ride.

I slid my saddle back and lowered my saddle height so my BB is slightly more forward than my hips and I'm running Cinelli grip tape.

I had numbing and with Ergon G3 and still had it. Well it was warm out and took my heavy gloves off and hmm no more numbness. so I'm thinking of going back to original grips with no gloves and see if it was just the thickness of the gloves.
@elroobike
@elroobike Жыл бұрын
@john hudrick - I didn't mention gloves in this or the last vid about numb hands, but I think you may be on to something. I used to think I needed gloves with a gel cushion in the palm area, but I have found over the years a very thin glove with no cush works best for me. Right now I'm using the Giro Havoc gloves. They fit nice, but seem to wear out fast. Always a trade off I guess
