The advice is good in theory only. I struggled to get the FIR registered for an offence (IT Act) , my email was hacked by my bitter half my financial records stolen and used the same against me in the Divorce machine of India. I approached the local chowki, circle police station, DSP office, SSP office but nothing. And funny thing is I was going with proof with time and date clearly showing the access to my email account. Eventually filed 156 through a lawyer, judge kept giving notices to police station and no one use to turn up from police’s side .. for over a year. Then finally the police made a mistake of sending a letter where they pre-emptively stated my complaint was devoid of truth.. God bless my lawyer he tore the police theory in open court with just that one sentence and NBW issued for IC cyber cell then the fun began.. A lot of patience is required for any hope of justice to blossom in India.. FIR is easier said then done until someone is dead or there is any pressure from a powerful person or group..

I'm an associate myself, What we do here is we draft a complaint with all the facts carefully and we sent it by courier to police station and also cc the Dsp, IG and other commandable authorities. Always works and you get your complaint registered with no hassle.

Hi Amish. I'm not a lawyer but a strategy that I follow is to obtain the official email id of the police station, PI, local ACP and DCP from the state police website. I email the complaint to the PI and station with cc to the seniors. Then with a printout of this complaint and the "cc to ACP, DCP" marked with highlighter I walk into the station for submission of the complaint. Even if they refuse to acknowledge the copy (which sometimes happens) there is still a proof. And at least in my experience this cuts out the games that they play.

@@advocateshashank They can always say that due to overburden of work and paucity of time we couldn't see or reply to mail. Plus, time bound reply to an email is not a legal duty yet, so unfortunately there is no sanction for breach of it. Hence if they do not want to acknowledge your complaint, they will use these arguments later. That's why according to me Written / typed complaint by speed post is the best option.

Amish, certain cases (such as above 10 crore and above) comes under the jurisdiction of the EOW or ED or some agency. Now the EOW has to receive the complaint which is forwarded from the senior police formation (DCP or SP) to the EOW. Could you please make a video on this procedure?
