Bettye has always known how to cut to bone inside of me. Life seems so much better after listening to her soul. Call it schadenfreude if you will, but there is something comforting knowing you are not the only one in this world to suffer and blues has always found a way of uplifting ones inner self. Huge respect for Bettye who I have always felt lived in Tina Turner's shadow; not to denigrate Tina because she certainly struggled for where she is, but for me, Bettye's songs have more meaning.

And I think it's great that she's an older person. The music industry hardly ever gives Older folks a chance to make it. That's why I never watch American Idol and the like.
