I don't understand why this doesn't have a million views....This is innovation, technicality, and catchiness all bundled up into the highest form of art metal has seen in a while. That's not an opinion, that's fact. Most bands can't be innovative, without losing technicality and/or catchiness. Most bands can't be technical without losing innovation and/or catchiness. Most band's can't be catchy without losing tech and/or innovation. These guys do it all and flawlessly if i might add.

@@palibakufun Unless him hitting the china at 2:12 is supposed so sound like a hi hat, it's not a live recording, lol. Also you can tell all the nuances are *exactly* like the original track on the record, and there are several other spots where the audio and video don't match. To be clear I'm in no way dissing on Blake, my brain just can't comprehend how you'd think this is an actual live audio recording.

Still the most aggressive song I've listened to. Going from Black Box and launching into this is a kick to the guts, and the mid section "breakdown" is nuts. No other song conveys so much aggression and intent - part of me hopes it's entirely intentional because it's about the Night Owls and Prospect 2's ultimate decision to end humanity.

The fact that blake's live performance sits perfectly in time with the album is a testament to how awesome this band is live. even if it's to a click live it's fucking brilliant. I'm drunk and depressed because this band is so much better than anything I'll ever achieve.

I wanna take a time machine back to the formative days of underground African American Jazz, thrust a few of the heaviest hitters forward in time to watch this video & then ask them what their opinion is of the modern music that was inspired by what they started nearly a century ago. The natural assumption is that they'd go "what is this demonic noise?", but if there's one thing I know in my short lifetime, it's that Anime, Jazz & Metal have one of the tightest venn-diagrams of shared interests, so I feel like they'd totally "get it" whereas their ancient contemporaries would run away screaming. Imagine Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock & the rest of the crew nodding their heads along in time subdividing the different rhythms whilst taking mental notes of which melodic structures they wanted to experiment with when they got home; It would be majestic.

The absolute amazing part on Richardson's behalf is that even though he is doing a live performance, his drumming is absolutely on point with the studio recording. Often times tempo's change enough live to make it look off and he's not off beat at all.

To everyone saying they suck, no they don't. And neither does BTBAM. My comment was mentioning the fact that even on the BTBAM channel, all of these videos are on there, as well as on this channel. And AILD didn't have that. Neither did a majority of the other bands on the label. I personally love both bands. Can't we all just get along and enjoy the Metal? \m/

You're right, though. Him saying that is equivalent to someone saying, "George Orwell is not as good of an author as Eric Carle; that's why 1984 is 300 pages and The Hungry Caterpillar is 20." I estimated those page lengths, but yeah.

Nah, they didn't HAVE to do anything - it's just a difference in their goal as musicians. Maybe someday in the future, AILD will make 72 min concept albums and BTBAM will go back to cd's with generally normal song lengths. I just hate to see their musicianship put down because of a difference in musical preference - it's cool if they're not your favorite, but don't put down their artistry and dedication because of that. And sorry - it's kind of stupid to respond to a 7 month old post.

They started off being a progressive metalcore band up until The Great Misdirect. From then they steered more away from the "core" aspect like breakdowns in favour of a more prog/tech metal sound but to completely negate them as a metalcore band is stupid. For one, the "core" vocals are still obviously present.
@godsu54n0
@godsu54n0 10 жыл бұрын
Jay Ess It was never Metalcore... it's always been prog. Deathmetal... and they never even used "breakdowns". A breakdown implies some layman one-chord passage to get the audience jumping... BTBAM NEVER resorted to such pathetic and technically primitive things
