Jethro and Elly May REALLY enjoyed those corn flakes . That was great acting if they filmed right after a big lunch at the commissary of General Service Studios .

As the show went on, a "Jethro-sized" bowl of cereal (a serving bowl) was regularly consumed at that table in the kitchen. If there was a better job of casting a sitcom done than with "The Beverly Hillbillies," I would welcome knowing about it.

...I remember in one episode Jed asks Jethro why he ate 12 bowls of cornflakes for he says he's trying to cut down he usually eats more.

You got that right ! ! ! ! My sister and I HATED Corn flakes, the longer you let them sit in the bowl with milk the soggier they get and the more difficult they become to choke down. My sister (at 10 yrs old)and I would just sit there and sulk, staring at those bowls not wanting to eat them, and soggy and soggier they would get. We were told we couldn't get up from the table til we ate them. Needless to say we never ate them when we became adults.
