It’s nice to see things intact as they originally were, without editing. I know they can’t show that on tv, but at least we can see it somewhere.

The Winston Cigarettes sign on the side of the trailer was being pulled by a REA (Railway Express Agency) truck. The company was competed against UPS for package delivery by using the railways similar to FedEx using aviation. The company went out of business in the 1970s.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, and watching all these old TV shows, I would notice how they would often compact portions of the end credits and leave a corner of the screen blank. Of course, those were the syndicated reruns, not the original network airings.

During the first two seasons,Winston alternated with Kellogg's as weekly sponsors of The Beverly Hillbillies.Beginning in fall 1964,Kellogg's was the sole sponsor.I often wondered if the Surgeon General's report was the reason Winston was dropped as a sponsor,maybe because the show was favorite of kids(like me,I had a Beverly Hillbillies lunh box from the second through sixth grades.)
@starey18 жыл бұрын
yes, I think I read somewhere that it WAS the reason THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES and THE FLINSTONES dropped them as a sponsor.

The integrated commercials while they are fun to see required extra work for cast and crew. They had to be written, rehearsed and filmed in addition to show itself . The folks now a days do not have to be concerned about this extra load . Think about that while you see Harriet Nelson recite the virtues of a Kodak Brownie camera from 1957 .

R.J. Reynolds [Winston] co-sponsored the series (with Kellogg's) from 1962 through '67. Bill Baldwin was the show's announcer.

I remember watching The Beverly Hillbillies when I first got Amazon Prime a couple of years ago and the sponsor used to alternate between Kelloggs and Winstons, so I decided to start re-watching The Beverly Hillbillies on Prime and I noticed that they removed all of the Winston ads and replaced them with just Kelloggs ones which is a shame. I don't smoke and I know they don't run cigarette ads on TV any more but I liked seeing the occasional Winston ad for a little bit of nostalgia, nice to be able to watch them on KZbin!

Cigarettes caused a lot of people to suffer but it still really miss them days when I was a little boy. I was little my mother would chain smoke while I was setting on her lap and second hand smoke never killed me.

Winston was the primary sponsor on producer Paul Henning's main series of the 1950s, "The Bob Cummings Show", and the association -- right down to Bill Baldwin as the announcer -- carried over to Henning's new series for CBS.

And FIlmways TV Productions was basically the McCadden Corporation, the producers of "The Bob Cummings Show/Love That Bob." after George Burns sold his company to Marty Roshonoff, from studio boss Al Simon on down.

Another thought . I often wonder on the BH Ms. Donna Douglas was usually wearing the tight blue jeans with the one size too small shirt with midriff sewned up, While on the same CBS network they gave the producers of the DVD show havoc over Ms. MTM wearing capris pants with a little lower hip showing on her frail frame . On second thought maybe CBS thought the characters had different status . Ms, Douglas played some wild critter loving character from out of hinterlands while Ms. MTM was a wholesome wife/mother living in the NYC suburbs .
