More Hollywood heavyweights are joining a boycott of the Beverly Hills Hotel, but as Ben Tracy reports, some of those caught in the middle have a message of their own.

That's why I think people who hold the same ideology, in this case Qur'an, should stay away from western countries.

Sultan is just being obedience to the real teaching of Islam and said if we follow the wishes of the WEST, there will be no progress on the people in the country . I agreed.I have studied the religion and read the Koran, the right of ALLAH MUST be above the human right. I STRONGLY feel that sharia is the best for the country to grow.I don't want my kids to become gay. In UK parents are worried of the possibility of their kids turn to become gay.It is a country where parenting is worrying so cannot be called a happy place to raise children, so we will not follow the Western way .

We have death penalty for drug traffickers too for decades and yet not one person has ever been hanged because of it unlike Malaysia, Indonesia and surprise!! Singapore. While our laws may seem harsh but we, the people that interprets them, are compassionate and are not out to harm ppl unnecessarily just like our head of state and Sultan. Look up human rights report on the number of capital punishment meted out by countries and you never see Brunei in that list. Ppl have been murdered here and the murderers were never sentenced to death but always given long-term jail sentences and I believe not even life sentences. Treasonous ppl were locked up for years since the 1962 rebellion but I believe all have been pardoned and released by now when in some countries the penalty for being treacherous against your own country is usually death. Just ask the Chinese ppl. Syariah law may give the courts the legislation to punish LGBTs with what seems like the worse punishment possible but they will be very meticulous in making sure there are no basis for any kind of reasonable doubt for that kind of sentencing. If they can just find one criterion that's lacking they'll just throw the case out and the Commonwealth Civil courts will take over. It's not easy to sentence someone to death here as every bit of facts submitted as evidence has to be perfect or else the case is thrown out or passed to a lower courts. As an e.g. For a drug trafficker to be sentenced to death for trafficking more than 500 grams of Marijuana, the Narcotics Control Bureau (DEA-equivalent) has to weigh it in its pure form eg its THC content even if a 1 kilo brick marijuana was found. That means they will go to great lengths to seek any avenue that the accused can use to defend him/herself from receiving the capital punishment. That's how compassionate we are. Learn about our Syariah penal code in detail and you'll find that it is more of a form of deterrent (as any kind of law enacted anywhere in this world) rather than seeking to eliminate a group of ppl who are different or on the wrong side of the law. Those capital punishments may never be successfully handed down as the criteria for a conviction are rather stringent and ridiculous by any civil courts standards.
@buj13875 жыл бұрын
@@Az-zf4du Afraid not. Rather than just target LGBTs this penal code is the same as any you can find any where in the world for all kinds of acts deem unacceptable to its society. In France there are laws against headscarves, in Singapore against chewing gums etc. etc. etc. And in Brunei being *openly gay* (as in overtly showing provocative acts of affection between same sex) is frowned or even loathe upon. But that treatment is the same even for straight couples. Be respectful of the ppl around you and no one will bate an eyelid. Ppl here have lived with, have friends with, work with, tomboys and effeminate men since forever and we are used to them as some of them are our family members and we never gay-bash them, in fact accepted their differences. So nothing much will change. No morality police officer doing their rounds like in Saudi Arabia. But just because of that don't deliberately break any law just to challenge the gov't to see what they will do. Don't make this into an LGBT-bashing issue as it is not. This penal code is wide-ranging for all sorts of crime and its main aim, as with any law, is as a deterrent not as a "trap" to target some group of unlucky ppl.
