When Eddie laughs at the leather outfits, the red one is identical to the one he wore on one of his live stand-up performances. Lisa Eilbacher who played Jenny was also in "An Officer and a Gentleman" that I highly recommend. In the opening scene they actually destroyed an entire neighborhood in Detroit while filming the semi-truck chase scene. When it comes to "Beverly Hills Cop II", it's pretty good, but the third one don't waste your time watching.

Fun Fact: Sylvester Stallone was originally brought in to play Axel Foley but he demanded a bunch of rewrites, removing all the humour and turning it into action-packed blood bath. He even changed the lead's name to Axel Cobretti. They ultimately passed on Stallone, but 2 years later he went on and used his rewrite to make the movie "Cobra".

One of the funniest action comedy movies ever made! Originally Sylvester Stallone was goung to star and write the script for the movie, making it more darker and more violent than the final cut of the movie. When executives read the script it was rejected immediately and Stallone turned his version of BEVERLY HILLS COP into the 1986 action thriller COBRA.

@Emma (1) Understand no comic ever hit like a comet like Eddie he did 48 hours, trading places, and beverly hills cop for his first 3 movies he was on fire. (2) the best stories and directories show they dont tell. the g.o.a.t of all time hitchcock would show you the guy put a bomb down now the audience knows it is there but the characters in the film do not.... in the club scene before that we are told Axel is such a great detective but in the club scene you see it... he identifies the 2 thugs immediately, he puts Billy at ease but goes right to Taggert to tell him, to ask for help, then you see him disarm the lead gunman. Just a terrific scene in which we are not told he is a great detective but we are SHOWN it in real time. Id say Beverly Hills cop 2 is a fun watch but avoid 3 its dog%hit. They \have a trailer of Beverly hills cop 4 and it looks fun. Best wishes

14:25 "Can you tell him what happened to your friend?" It won't matter. See, you want Eddie Murphy to be the good guy because he's a great comedian, and excellent actor, we all love him, and because we SAW things in the movie we know he's right. We are all on Axel Foley's side. But Lt. Bogomil here has no idea who Axel Foley or Eddie Murphy are, has no reason to like either of them, and didn't see any of the things we saw. He needs evidence and Axel doesn't have any evidence. In fact, Axel has committed crimes in the short time he's been in Beverly Hills, including trespassing in Victor Maitland's business. So all Lt. Bogomil sees is a detective from Detroit who has no jurisdiction in California, claiming to be on vacation, and apparently doing something that his own Lieutenant back in Detroit told him not to do, and committing at least one crime already. Axel knows that. If he says "Somebody assassinated my friend and I'm here investigating it, off duty and out of my jurisdiction, against the orders of my Lieutenant" he would very likely be arrested on the spot. This kind of vigilante behavior is illegal and when cops do it, they lose their jobs.

Good reaction to this fun 80s action comedy Emma....I hope that you will also do the other two sequels in this franchise (I personally enjoyed both of them but some people tend to like the 2nd one more than the 3rd, to each their own, but I enjoyed both of them in their own right for what they were and the times in that they were made....now some people might tell you to avoid the 3rd one but I always say watch the movie & judge it for yourself)...there is a 4th film in the works that is scheduled to be released on Netflix later in 2024 (with much of the original cast returning), the new trailer looks like fun. Fun movie trivia facts - originally Sylvester Stallone was attached to be the lead in this film (it was to be much more serious in tone and less on comedy but much more action), but Stallone ended up dropping out to work on Rocky 4 & Rambo 2 instead (Sly's treatment ideas for his version of the movie were later re-worked into the 1986 action film 'Cobra'...so if wanted to know what this movie would have been like with Stallone instead of Eddie, then check out that film). Also actor Steven Berkoff who played Victor Maitland in this film, would also play the main villain in Rambo 2 (a year later in 1985), how's that for irony eh? Eddie Murphy was 'on fire' in the early 80s, having been on SNL (Saturday Night Live) for several years prior and making two hit movies back to back prior to Beverly Hills Cop (48 Hrs in 1982 & Trading Places in 1983), and after Stallone dropped out of the movie, what better choice than to recast the role with a funny hit comedian (and who has already done action before in 48hrs). The producers and script writers rewrote much of the dialogue to cater to Eddie's strengths as a comedian, however they didn't need to do too much because a lot of Eddie's funniest dialogue in the film is mostly improvised by Eddie himself on set. Jonathan Banks (better known as the hitman Mike Ehrmantraut from 'Breaking Bad') who played the henchman Zack in this movie, was also in another earlier Eddie Murphy action/buddy comedy '48hrs' in 1982 (he played the Ill-fated cop who gets killed in the beginning, setting the story of that film in motion). Serge is played by Bronson Pinchot, who was only supposed to have a quick bit part in this movie (a hello & good-bye) but the improvisational actor/comedian made both the director & Eddie Murphy laugh so much, that they kept expanding his part and adding more lines for him. Gilbert R. Hill who played Inspector Todd (Axle/Eddie's boss) was a real life police inspector for the Detroit police department before he became an actor (he is also in all 3 Beverly Hills Cop movies). He sadly passed away in real life in 2016 at the age of 84. RIP. Harold Faltermeyer did the music for this film and created the memorable theme tune (called 'Axel F'), which later went to number 2 on the UK singles chart and reached number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop charts. The song even spent two weeks on top of the US Adult Contemporary chart in 1984. Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually trying hard not to laugh. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing. To cast the roles of Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), the director paired up various finalists and asked them to do some improvisation to get a feel for their chemistry. He paired up Judge Reinhold and John Ashton and gave them the following direction: "You are a middle-aged couple, married for years. You are having a conversation on an average evening." Reinhold immediately picked up a nearby magazine and the two improvised the "five pounds of red meat in his bowels" bit almost exactly as it eventually appeared in the movie. This movie was comedian/actor Damon Wayans film debut - he's the guy who gives Axel/Eddie the bananas (Eddie Murphy saw him doing stand up at club in LA, thought he was very funny and asked for him to appear in the movie in that part. Damon Wayans and Eddie Murphy improvised their lines here). This film was the 2nd highest grossing film of 1984 (beating out Gremlins, The Karate Kid, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Police Academy, Footloose, Star Trek III: The Search For Spock & Splash)...only Ghostbusters ranked in a little more money than Beverly Hills Cop, to finish out the top grossing films of that year.

Another great 80's movie of Eddie Murphy is the Golden Child. Fun Fact The movie was suppose to star Sylvester Stallone and he wanted to be darker but in the end Eddie Murphy took the role in the movie was made lighter. Sylvester Stallone took his movie ideas and created the action movie Cobra so you can check out this movie also and compare :) .

7:40 "I don't like the behavior of the boss." Why? Axel really screwed up with the cigarette thing. He basically stole that truck and the cigarettes from the police impound and evidence room, set up an operation that his boss didn't even know about, lost a bunch of the evidence all over the streets of detroit, compromised whatever cases were in progress already by losing and damaging the evidence of those cases, and worst of all, his actions were directly responsible for the destruction of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property and risk to many police and civilian lives. And he didn't even catch the bad guy. All his boss did was yell at him a little bit? He's lucky to have a job.' That's the nicest boss ever. And right now, when you made the comment, it's absolutely standard police behavior EVERYWHERE that detectives don't investigate cases that involve their own family or friends. They get too personally involved, they make bad decisions, and defense attorneys very often are able to win court cases because of those bad decisions, so the bad guys get away. Axel's boss assigning this case to a different detective is just standard police behavior. Then Axel argued with him and boss told him to stop arguing and take a little time off because of his head injury. Again, that's a very understanding boss.

Fun fact: Apparently Sylvester Stallone was supposed to star in this movie and it was supposed to be a crime drama and not a comedy.. Stallone turned it down.

Hey, Emma. Your reaction to comedies is wonderful to watch. Here are some further suggestions for the channel. CADDYSHACK, STIR CRAZY, WHAT ABOUT BOB? SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, O' BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? and animated films THE INCREDIBLES and THE IRON GIANT. You are a great audience. I love following you on the channel. Enjoy

27:30 "You want to hire him as a part of your department." Your sarcasm detector must be broken. The boss guy was angry. He's angry at his own men for losing Axel so much. He's angry at Axel for the crimes he's committed. He's also glad that Axel prevented a crime, but nobody in charge of any police department appreciates vigilante behavior which is exactly what Axel is doing. On the other hand, he doesn't have quite enough evidence, yet, that Axel is being a vigilante. Everybody knows it, but they need evidence to arrest him for it. So all he can do is be angry about all this. His comments were sarcastic, mostly meant to embarrass his own men for being so incompetent. He definitely doesn't want anything ot do with Axel.

Good reaction. The sequel is good too. If you like the "Billy" character (Judge Reinhold) you might try another action/comedy from 1986, "Ruthless People", Reinhold, Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, Helen Slater, Bill Pullman and Anita Morris are the main characters. It's a lot of fun in a 1980s way. An Eddie Murphy flick that doesn't get any attention from reactors is "The Adventures of Pluto Nash". It is classic Murphy on the moon with a lot of twists and turns.
