It's so depressing that we're settling for legacy sequels as "the best we can do" but at this point I agree
@chrisolivo65916 ай бұрын
There are too many people like Bill Simmons who get sucked into nostalgia. It’s sad that the state of movies is franchise sequel, comic book movie, franchise sequel, etc. What’s sad is Bill is a movie guy who loves movies. Who remembers the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s when Hollywood was putting out multiple great movies yearly. Now they are devoid of anything original and we get Beverly Hills Cop 4.

Legacy sequels have been a feature of cinematic & television product for decades & Streaming is a natural platform for this

I see the dudes point Tucker had an impressive run not Eddie Murphy like but still good; Friday, dead presidents, money talks (sheen, locklear film) , Jackie brown, fifth element, and the rush hr trilogy. It’s a respectable filmography

Bro Chris Tucker is amazing and he’s hit the same heights as Eddie. I stood on Eddie’s shoulders for sure, but Tucker has his own lane that is also incredible and dazzling. He is one of the best ones to work in that Eddie mode.
@DefSquadFan5 ай бұрын
Tucker never hit Eddies Heights. Chris Tucker had one movie where he was the star. The rest he was he was a co-star or lesser role. Eddie was Mr. BOXOFFICE for like 3 or 4 years.

Van's Chris Tucker point isn't as crazy as Bill made it out to be. He was right there on the verge of that level of fame and just chose to back away. Opposed to Eddie just doubling down when he's already got 48 hrs, Trading Places Delirious and BH1
@mjwbulich6 ай бұрын
No. Even. Close. I remember him from Def Comedy Jam before Friday. At what point was he on the verge of being Eddie famous? And what does "choose to step away" mean? Are you saying he didn't want to make iconic films and one of the all time great comedy albums?
@jonnykilroy97626 ай бұрын
@@mjwbulich he's one of the big names in Hollywood after RH1 and has enough clout to get 20 mil for RH2. No reason other than his own personal choices for him not to do anything else in between the RH films. Peak Eddie was doing a movie basically every year

I can't believe you brought up possible Eddie Murphy sequels without mentioning Harlem Knights. A sequel to that with Eddie playing more of the Richard Pryor part that takes place in the 50's would be great. Bring in some of the new young funny stars and have them going head to head with Godfather styled mafiosos would be awesome.

How do you know about BUBBLE HILL? Eddie Murphy lived there in NJ from 1986 to 2004. House sat on the market 8 years, then Alicia Keys bought it in 2013, then sold it to a billionaire in 2015. Chris Tucker is not on Eddie's level. As for Eddie's current laugh, it's cringe-worthy but he started laughing that way as far back as when he did his movies A THOUSAND WORDS and IMAGINE THAT.
