Ah, the one where she and Gagnon completely rewrite the da capo! Hahaha She had guts even if the style was off the mark. She sings it all very beautifully and the role is a perfect fit to what she does best.

The da capo is supposed to let the singer show off their skills...which she did.

This is incredibly musical and utterly ugly. Creating Semele with this stunning complicated bravura makes her a villain which she sort of is. The beauty of the aria has vanished. What remains is something dyspeptic. Sills was always exaggerating the line and having fun making the listener dizzy.

She was one of the most intelligent and successful singers of all time....for a reason. She was remarkable in so many ways. Arm chair critics are not remarkable in anyway.
