Get your reminder and watch here • Beware Of Shallowing T...
Don’t Try shallowing your golf swing until you watch this…
Shallowing is a buzz word and the PGA Tour pros shallow out the golf swing to deliver the club with power and consistency… BUT… Should YOU?
I am going to give you the reasons why you SHOULD…and the Reasons why you SHOULD”NT shallow out the club and how you may be better off NOT trying to shallow by using a different method
Because if you do tray and shallow out your downswing like you see all over golf instruction and you Don’t do this ONE KEY
You will be hitting considerably WORSE golf shots…YOU will be MORE FRUSTRATEDAND have no idea why because you are doing what you are told.
BUT when you know what to adjust it will all make sense and you CAN use this power slot move
We are going to give you a couple of great golf swing feels to shallow your downswing AND how to adjust to get the benefits.
WHY IS SHALLOWING A BENEFIT?
Most amateurs start downswing with upper body being too steep. It’s eager..Also its too much focus on hitting AT THE Ball rather then throughBut shallow is related to angle of attack and delivery into the ball to turn on power etc.
PEOPLE DON”T TELL YOU. IT ONLY WORKS IF YOU CAN ROTATE OPEN TO SQUARE IT UP!
If not you will get STUCK and tilt under!
Causing crap shot and flipping impact If you can’t rotate well enough.. the easiest way to blend the move is to open up your stance to help get through and not get stuck

Last time I played, I had 4 swing thoughts, I bowed my left wrist at address, I kept the V going back, reopened my hips at the start of the down swing, then down, through & up on the follow through. Never hit my irons better or longer that day!!

Do you try and shallow downswing? Have you noticed iffy results despite trying to get MORE shallow in transition and in your swing? Let me know below!

in my opinion shallowing the club is a result of a solid transition move.. too many instructors advocate stuffing your trail elbow into your ribcage on the downswing in order to combat ‘over the top’ (which results in players hitting massive blocks and pushes, an equally bad miss)

Great video. Yep...depth - flat left wrist - stay behind it with shirt buttons - rotate - release. But not with all those swing thoughts on the course 🤣. I've been working on this all winter indoors (I'm 67 and have lost my motivation even for the range in winter) with one of those short "grip position" clubs with the weight at the end and it's now feeling quite natural and powerful with the shallowing almost "by accident"...

Again another video, and more great info.. you are one of the best doing it. I suffered from this greatly, started to keep a feel as if my trail hand kept ontop of my lead hand on the way back.. love it, I'll have to try your feel for this out, I sometimes lose the 'ontop' feel I mentioned. But this is all part of why we are all so infatuated with this game, one move could be described 10 different ways to a golfer, all about their feel. You are the man, thanks for the content as always!

A big key for me and i think can be helpful to anyone is this...What is your subconscious feeling during and at the top of backswing? If you get to the top and feel the "oh no, gotta hurry because i feel like im gonna miss right"..thats problematic. A drill i do that (DOES NOT INVOLVE HITTING A SHOT)..so you can be tension free is stand over the ball with feet together, and standing upright then rest the club over right shoulder( right handers) then make a full shoulder turn, still relaxed and even arms bent and see how your alignment feels at the top. You want a NOT rushed feeling and to feel you have to swing out to the right a little bit, not rush. This helps the rest take care of itself . I have learned to put an emphasis on how alignment feels at the top, which leads to how the downswing will be.

Recently started using high hands at set up after watching an old video you posted. Pretty close to single plane look at setup. Not really a one plane swing. Higher and deeper hands above the shoulder is what I am working on now. My swing tended to be short, arm even or below my shoulders, 3 to 4 knuckles strong grip,and sometimes to arround my body(getting stuck) and too quick/over the top. Recently I experimented with weakening my left hand grip, more neutral to make the high hands at set up work for me and getting slight bowing. I start the backswing with a heave to get deep and hands farther away. Biggest changes were immediate, more speed, better sequencing, higher trajectory/carry and able to work the ball especially with the driver. I hit some long fades with the driver this is a first for me. Only shot previously was a draw or a bad slice.This is great news because some of the holes on my course require a fade to really take advantage towards shorter approaches. Irons are great with slight draw. Fade with irons still a work in progress, not so great. I need to figure this out and work on it, this is struggle at the moment. Anyway, higher hands at set up seem to me, shallow more naturally. I am using open stance club towards target for push draw. Stance slightly more open with face left of the target for fade, getting really good distance with driver/ better control. When I try to square stance or close my stance it results in fat, shanks, pushes, pulls, and hooks. Open stance saved me. Watching Bryson Dechambeau and Xander Shauffele set ups helped with the visual I needed. I tended to be closer to the ball and hands were lower. I believe this made me to handsy and not as consistent. My body type is thick chest, fairly muscular, and 5'9" . Alex, I benefit immensely from your videos! I struggled with a square and close stance for too many years.

This makes me curious I am a barrel chested type and I’ve had a flatter back swing and I blocked and hit slices huge fades with the driver and 3 wood but I hit my irons and wedges out of the center every time. I just recently did a swing change to a more steeper swing with a weaker right hand grip because I was hitting blocks slices fades anything you name it. was it right that I went steeper?

Just recently found your channel, and man am I glad I did!! The pushing the butt of the club has been REALLY helpful. Thank You!! I play to about a 6, typically. But, injuries over the years (shoulders, elbow) my swing as become extremely flat. I would love to get by backswing a bit more vertical, and maintain my shallow delivery, to a point. I’ve noticed my driver swing is really weak, and distance is suffering. Any tips or ideas for me to get vertical and some of my distance back?!

@gunghogolf
@gunghogolf 2 жыл бұрын
Further away from the ball at the top of your backswing, behind you. From the down the line camera view, hands will be behind your right shoulder - at least as deep as the right ankle. The key is to do this with body turn, and not by over-folding the right elbow or completely pinning the left arm against your chest.

I'm still confused. The tipping down move="flattening" correct? Are "flattening"and "shallowing" the same thing? Are they connected somehow? In this video you say most people swing steep like a V but a proper shallowing would be more like a U so what does flattening have to do with that?
@TheArtofSimpleGolf
@TheArtofSimpleGolf 2 жыл бұрын
It's the same really. It just depends on how you do it and how you feel it.
@jacobr4558
@jacobr4558 2 жыл бұрын
I don't understand how it's the same. Shallowing=U shape Steep=V shape If the opposite of steep is shallow then what is the opposite of flat? If you are flattening couldn't you get "below" the plane? /stuck? Also if you flatten couldn't you still swing steep?
@jacobr4558
@jacobr4558 2 жыл бұрын
I guess in my mind I see Flattening as a PLANE issue and shallowing is an ARC issue. I dont see how thry intersect??? I can swing flat/upright(plane)+ be steep/shallow(arc) Dont see how swinging flatter(plane) creates a shallow/wider (arc)
