Recently I ordered a Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. It was my first professional type headphones, and I got it for around $140 on Amazon. When I first started listening to it, I was amazed at how amazing the sound quality was compared to my Bose QC35s considering it cost less than half as much. Then I noticed the headphones looked a bit different from what I remember ordering. Turns out, they sent me the DT 1990 Pros. So I would say these things are an exceptional value for what I paid.

Dude, on behalf of a producer and national recording artist who is obsessed with audiophile videos, thank you. I was at my wits end with most of the popular audiophile reviewers and think because they aren’t actual musicians or producers, you get a very confused idea of whether they are right about a headphone. After shelling out the money time and time again, I’ve learned that most of them don’t have an understanding on this level. This video alone corrected all the things the other guys never include, like a photo of the frequency response, the type of music you listen to, and straight forward honesty. I’ve been an AKG guy forever, and even prefer the Superlux HD681 over all of them because the bass extension is so much better. I’m not happy that I need to love a 30 dollar headphone, and I’ve modded AKGs. I’ve always wanted the 1990 Pros but this video is likely making me pull the trigger because even with the mods, the AKGs just have way too much sub drop off. I absolutely need soundstage but I don’t need a K712 soundstage if it means no sub. Please keep up the things I mentioned. I know tons of people are fed up with other reviewers not being clear enough or thorough, and even worse, the music they use to reference is unbelievable.

Very nice seeing you review high quality audio gear. I keep telling people that there is no such "gaming headphone". There is only good OR bad headphone cause if it's good then it's gonna be good at everything or sound like trash on everything. In fact if I could give must 1 tip "AVOID Anything with the marketing term "gaming" as its all BS". Sure if you do nothing else than game and u never listen to any music at all, the bad quality isn't gonna be as noticeable at first but the very good headphone for music are gonna be way superior for gaming too. Having a large soundstage isn't just for music, most people don't get it. I had so many headphone of which the DT800,990 and tried too the 770 which are very hard to best at their low budget pricing, else I did try the 1990 Pro but quickly sent them back to Amazon as I found the head clamping too hard to my liking. You could trash hardcore to some metal without ever risking it to fall but otherwise it would cause me a small headache after a while. I much preferred the older model that I still have, the T90 that is more like the newer but uglier "Amiron" ^^ Anyhow I don't use it anymore since a year as I've switched to a much higher range with the "Planar Magnetic" headphone and got myself a used "like new" pair of (Audeze LCD 3) with the following amplifier (Woo WA6-SE) and will never be able to go back to anything cheaper that I had. Yes it sucks that to get a step above you have to DOUBLE the $ everytime but it definitely makes a difference!

Personally, I like the analytical pads more because of the clarity. On most songs, there is no perceived edgyness or harshness. However, I did get a passive inline filter to tone it down a bit and make it the ultimate allrounder for me. I don't feel like getting anything else after this one anymore.

These headphones have been my go to ever since I made the purchase. I do think that with certain sound cards or being connected to different sources can accentuate the high end a bit too much but I am too in love with the looks and the build quality so I don't care too much. After 5 years of regular use 4+ hours a day I can easily say that they have NOT deteriorated in any regard whatsoever. If anyone is looking to jump on the audiophile train I'd take good look at these as they don't come much better for the price.
@drewmorg. Жыл бұрын
If you are looking at hype train Edition XS which myself and several friends have purchased... don't even think about it. I'm going to "side grade" to the DT 1990 because I love beyer build and ergonomics. I need to have a headset I can wear many hours per day (12+). Edition XS are just too large and bulky and I hate dual cable exits. Sound stage is perhaps TOO wide for my usage and vocals seem annoyingly distant because of it. Bass has little to no impact except at screaming volumes. DT 770 for my use case is superior in everything I care about.

You have what seems to me a really impartial ear that at this point is both trained enough to appreciate the nuances of high-end gear without losing sight of what makes music enjoyable for the majority of people and not just "audiophiles"--things like non-fatiguing treble, solid bass response, etc. Too many reviewers seem concerned with only midrange or analytical performance, and I find it really hard to relate to sometimes.

I know badseed recommends both headphones, but he daily drives fhe 1990 and there’s no QC issues with those. I may have to whip out the credit card and try both, return one
@aGrimTurtle2 жыл бұрын
Well I'm listening with the Sundara right now... they sound very sterile to me. Super clean, detailed, fast, amazing resolution, amazing clarity... but lifeless. I think it's an issue of dynamics - the difference between loud sounds and quiet sounds aren't really there. Listening to mountains by Hans Zimmer, and the Sundara is a very clinical presentation of the song, whereas the 770 is certainly much less clear, way less detail, but my god does the swelling of music WOW me with the 770, even if the sound is smaller, less airy, less detailed. My issue with the 770s are the mids, they just aren't lush enough for me. I'm hoping the DT1990 will solve that for me.

@@antiqq_ Nah haven't had the chance yet. I did get the Sennheiser HD58X while it was on sale for like $120 though, and since a lot of people say it sounds very very close to the $500 (although now $300) HD 660s, I couldn't pass up that deal. I love the 58X's. I do still want to try the 1990s in the future though.

Can u use this on PC??? And what Amp would be the best for these that i can can use on PC and/or Console
@thetruth34o94 жыл бұрын
Yes and you can run without a DAC/AMP to start if money is tight. Most important thing in an audio chain is the headphones so always start there/invest the most $$ there and worry about other parts later.

Got myself a pair of these today very nice indeed, I have a feeling that these may be replacing my HD58X for gaming. They strike a nice middle ground between the very intimate staging of the sennheisers and the vastness of my K712s. The treble is a quite harsh, although after a while my ears kinda adjusted to it. Either way, I've ordered some dekoni elite velour pads to try to smooth out the treble peaks. Right now I'm having to set my volume in game based on the treble spikes, which is leaving the mids at a lower level than I'm used to, hopefully the pad swap should fix this.

hey brother, im about to start my home studio, and i need a set of headphones for music production, gaming and overall listening, i have a budget of 600$ is this the best recomendation? thanks for the help!

Try them with the dakoni elite valour pads. More intimate mids than the balancrd pads with little more bass than the analytical pads. I do have a strong issue with the 8k and even 10k. 8k is currently eqd - 8. With some other eq it really brings out more detail in the mids and raising the bass. Waiting on a custom passive filter for the 8k peak

Yo whats up Brian, so i've been looking more and more into audio set ups for my PC and i was wondering if you would be doing like an ultimate enthusiasts audio set up... like the head phones the mic the dac. like a steaming set up but for people that just want to sound good and listen to some bumping music. if you got this planned I'll be looking forward to it!

As a matter of fact, I DO have this video planned
@happyloaf5 жыл бұрын
@@badseedtech Will that video be comparing the gamer DAC/AMP (specifically the G6) to some of the higher end audiophile ones? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth upgrading/sidegrading from the G6 (which has honestly been great because of its size and versatility).

So the DT 990 Pro had a problem where the treble was too high... is it the same case with these?

You can fix the low bass in the dt 990 if you get a sound blaster g6 and manage it in the software
