There's a reason why beyoncé is named a star vocalist. She is one of the most versatile and technical artist. She is also one of the VERY FEW artist able to sing in mixylodian, Egyptian, indian and Arabian style scales, meaning she can alternate her voice and tone to match the setting of the song, whether that operatic vocals, hard rock, neo-soul, Blues/soul, R&B, funk, etc... Truly a talented QUEEN👑😍❤

YES, some early Beyonce! I've always felt the secret sauce to her success (along with incredible talent & stage presence) is that something about her makes the listener feel as confident, fierce and unstoppable as her. She's amazing in that way and imo part of the reason she's so beloved. It feels like when she struts, she does it for all of us LOL. "Baby Boy" and "Work It Out" from her debut years, please. Great reaction as usual!!

Jake Nava, whose visual work is resemblant of Sophie Muller (a predecessor who has also worked with many artists, including No Doubt, The KIllers & Beyonce) director of this video is a long time collaborator of Beyonce's, even recently as "Spirit", but during the early 2000s he also directed "Crazy In Love", "Beautiful Liar" & "Baby Boy" (you think "Naughty Boy" was amazing, be ready for your jaw to drop at this one and it's referenced with a bit of tongue in cheek at the end of the music video for "Deja Vu"). The dance Beyonce does with Usher is also a reference to classic film choreography (Beyonce loves this these styles, see "Get Me Bodied" which is uses choreography from Bob Fosse on "Sweet Charity" & "Single Ladies" homaging Gwen Verdon & Bob Fosse's choreography and "Countdown" a glorious mashup mostly of 50s & 60s style plus references to other actresses/dancers like Josephine Baker & Audrey Hepburn) from "The Band Wagon" with Fred Astaire & Cyd Charisse (a great female dancer whose trademark was her use of her exceptionally long legs, they went on for days). The martini glass at the end is a definite homage to burlesque dancers (you want to feel some kind of way, welp this is one of those dance styles that'll do it), in particular Dita Von Teese (fun fact, her real name is Heather Sweet) who is still to this day doing incredible performances. This happens to be one of my favorite songs by Beyonce, particularly because she changes up from her normal style of belting which I like, to a delicate softer tone that uses clever interpolation of the chorus from "Love To Love you Baby" by Donna Summer ("The Last Dance", "I Feel Love", "On The Radio", "Bad Girls", "She Works Hard For The Money", "State Of Independence" ) another singer you should check out, as she falls within the same sphere of singers as Diana Ross, both of whom I know Beyonce & Michael Jackson greatly admired. In fact I think it would be a great idea to take a look at other 70s era singers, like Gloria Gaynor ("I Will Survive"), Minnie Riperton ("Loving You"beautiful melodic voice, hitting the whistle notes way before Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey & also happens to be Maya Rudolph's mama, who we all know can sing & does a dead on impression of Beyonce, as an SNL alumni), Roberta Flack ("Killing Me Softly",which Lauryn HIll remade with The Fugees) , Chaka Khan (iconing, had some fantastic 70s era songs remade by other talented others artists like ""Sweet Thing" - covered by Mary J. Blige, "You('ve) Got The Love" - covered seperately by Candi Stanton & Florence+The Machine, & "I'm Every Woman" - covered by Whitney Houston ). All of them are big influences of Beyonce & and some of her other works.

Haha Usher in this. This song has always had an Arabic type of sound to me, then I found out that Beyonce is actually inspired by Arabic music. She said to an interviewer in Dubai: "Ya'll can all sing, you have amazing voices" or something like that. So she does that Middle Eastern style of vocals a lot. ESPECIALLY the beat in "Beautiful Liar" with Shakira. That had a whole Arab section near the end. Love it because I'm half Arab. Hey please react to Blackstreet - Joy
