Honestly, I played replayed Beyond Good and Evil HD on Xbox One Series X using the backwards compatibility and it still holds up to this day! Graphics are a bit outdated sure but nothing really that bad at all, it was such a fantastic game ❤

Its made by Ubisoft Montpellier, which so far, is the only Ubisoft Studio with Great track records (Valiant Hearts, Rayman series, Ghost recon advanced warfighter, Prince of persia: the lost crown, etc), so i think there's still hope

Important context for people: Beyond Good and Evil 2 (2008) and Beyond Good and Evil 2 (2017) are separate productions, they have nothing in common beyond the name itself. The 2008 version never went beyond a few prototypes that was made by a very small team, the team was then put onto the Rayman franchise to create Rayman Origins and Legends. Those games were really successful and they got the greenlight to start on BGE2, but they first needed to create a new game engine that would be able to support the ideas that were having. In 2017 work on the engine was completed and they revealed BGE2 at Day Zero of Development. It's important to keep in mind that Triple A productions nowadays are extremely long, so 7 years is not exactly a bizar amount of time for games to be in development. The game's production did see some challenges with Michel Ancel leaving, the Ubisoft Scandals and their Creative Director dying last year but it is still in production. People also tend to forget that they communicated in 2020 that their broadcast and communications would stop and they would go full radio silence in a blogpost in 2020.

As a massive fan of the first game I’m sad that they let the scope get away from them. BG&E has always been ambitious but it seems that there weren’t critical people there to say “no, we can’t do this” or “no, that’s getting too far away from the core concept” to every crazy mass appeal idea Michel Ancel brought to the table. I mean really, he wanted it to be a realtime massively multiplayer open-world character creator game with a deep story set in a solar system with multiple fully detailed and fully explorable planets. Icarus with the wax wings much?

Beyong good and evil 2 needs a different focus than most other games. The franchise has a strong sense for detail and immersion. The focus should be on the story, characters and bringing a world that the player wants to be in or finds extremely fascinating. Best caste would be a game similar to Mass Effect 1. I don't think gameplay will be all that important for a game like this, the details matter more. On the other hand ubisoft struggles to give good writers the lead on their projects, so this game would need a very different approach to most other ubisoft games.
