Could it be that the authors of the gospels are not changing anything at all in their accounts, it's just that they genuinely had different sources. It would perfectly normal that different sources had slightly different ways to describe a same event, with some more accurate than others...the inspiration of God then would make sure that on the fundamental points they all accurately say the same. On minor details, even historical details, it would leave room to potential error. Could this be the case?
