The practice of calling investigating persons and authorities as witness should stop immediately. Then what is the difference between fair investigation and calling them as witness to favour any one of the parties? Calling of investigating persons or authorities should only be restricted to seeing them as an "expert" (under indian evidence act), for the court to call them for any evidence or clarification, if needed and thinks necessary.
