I understand people saying the Satan stuff is a lot, but I don't really care about it. It's just a TV show, and if the writers want to show Satan that's fine but if the people become Satan lovers because of this and actually think they can become Sabrina with her abilities then that's on them, and them being too weak-willed enough to just follow a TV show and not think on their own.
@tofu_golem6 жыл бұрын
The problem is that Christians believe that if you believe hard enough, wanting something to be true will MAKE it true, so if you WANT to have Satan powers badly enough, you will in fact have Satan-powered superpowers. Thus, making Satan seem appealing will cause people to develop Satanic superpowers. Because wanting things to be true makes them true!

As a European, even though satanic worship plays a vital role in the series, it hasn't influenced me or anyone I know to support/resist the show in any way. And its not portrayed as a particularly good thing, there are a lot of flaws they point out in that worship and Satan is very much a villain and bad guy in the show. From what I know there are differing schools of Satanism where one believes Satan is an archetype character that embodies free will and another that believes Satan is a real force in the world worthy of worship as a deity. Miss wordwell is evil all the lines crossed we’re crossed because there’s no line evil isn’t willing to cross, she didn’t care. Sabrina killing Agatha was weird for me too, I thought about it for a while and in the whole situation we could clearly see that Sabrina’s bride was beginning to take over her rather than the love she had claimed she was doing it for, and the idea of this was for us to see that Sabrina was truly helpless to her entire situation right from the beginning, cuz that was truly her first dive into the darkness.

The series overall was brilliant. The only thing I'd change is Harvey (Ross lynch's portrayal is just very bland to me and his acting is extremely weak compared to the other actors on the show) if they go with the story from the comics where Sabrina's father possesses Harvey I don't see Ross lynch being able to play it well. Ambrose is a really good addition to the show and I can't wait to learn more about his past.
@khawajh6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you could have replaced Ross lynch with literally any other actor and you would have gotten at least the same level of performance (if not better) from them. But I mostly blame the script. i get what you're saying. in the show, being a witch looks so fun! worshiping the 'real' satan aside and the cannibalism. having powers and being involved in a female-empowered community is awesome. you'd get a familiar to bond with and learn different branches of magic. it just seems a richer and more fantastic world, literally. one of the few things i found lacking in sabrina was her so-called ties with the mortal world itself. her friends were cool and interesting and her relationship with harvey was hella cute, but it fell flat compared to the witch world and its myriad characters. it seemed like the driving reason sabrina didnt go was because her friends had so many problems (the bullying, gender-hate, oppressive school community) and she couldnt leave until she helped them out instead of just showing the great, fun, essential moments she has with her friends like in the first episode where they briefly showed us their actual friendship.

Couldn't care less about Roz and Susie, acting throughout the show for these characters was uneven to say the least. Zelda has tremendous potential, her religious struggle was very well conveyed and deserve more attention in the next season (And I'm not even religious myself at all). Totally agree on the missed opportunity with Ambrose, I would've liked a much darker/mature arc for him since he is older. It would be hilarious if Harvey and Nick were to become pals in season 2 ^.^

It did cross a line with the signing of the book and the killing of the witch by Sabrina. On the other hand I don't think you can rely on any show not aimed squarely at families, to function as a role model. This whole blaming tv-shows or movies for real life events is a problem. If you were to follow that to its logical conclusion, no edgy material could ever be produced, and you'd end up with the blandest material, with shows like "Full House". That show in particular is the worst example I can think of when it comes to an alleged comedy show being so criminally unfunny and bland, that you can't even really call it comedy.

Thanks Grace. Was waiting a long time for this one. Kinda wanted the cousin to become the talking cat from the original series

One of the things I didn't like about Ambrose's character is that they portrayed him as a sexual deviant which is a pretty common stereotype for gay people. Also, I don't think they ever addressed what Hilda put in Luke's drink at the cafe. Is that the only reason why Luke is in love with Ambrose?

Ambrose is actually my fav. He is definitely down with the witch thing but very cynical of the church. I'd love to see more of him and Sabrina.

1. If audiences can handle 14 seasons of Supernatural, I think they can handle Sabrina. It's not like they were actually trying to recruit anyone to the dark side. 2. Why is it that modern audiences have so much trouble seeing moral ambiguity in their drama? That makes for the best characters and storytelling. Sabrina having to learn moral responsibility as her powers grow seems like part of the entire point of the series. It's a theme that is relevant to teens since they have to go through that journey of learning that there are reasons for the rules and that one shouldn't just do something simply because they can. I also love that, when it was suggested to Sabrina that she could have two boyfriends, she didn't exactly say no! 3. Dr. Cerberus has two brothers. The hound Cerberus has three heads. Do the math... 4. Pretty sure Ambrose is going to be a season two story. He was so happy to be out of the house, I'm sure he was just doing his best to stay out of trouble.

Keep in mind that 'season 1' is considered 'part 1', and 'part 2' (which is season 2) apparently continues right where we left off, so some storylines like the witch that was killed may find an actual resolution then.

Blackwood was obsessed with a male heir and Zelda and Prudence are working together to hide her half sister from their father.

So I presume Grace has never been particularly upset because in the limited time I've viewed her videos, she has not changed her hair color. Maybe just the volume or the style, but not the color. :)

I love the show , all these dark twisted things are going to occur whether or not Sabrina shows it or not. And at this point occult elements are damn near everywhere in shows , movies , I think we've reached a point where it is what it is. People have to understand this is a fictional story, it's ultimately for entertainment and who doesn't love horror? I don't see any backlash happening none that'll amount to anything I think.

I really love this show, I binged it in 2 days🤣 (Also all this satan stuff isn't edgy in my opinion, I've seen so many things that are this light hearted about christianity)

Been waiting for this review! Honestly Tommy's soul being destroyed/eaten was the darkest part of the show. Also I think as far as Prudence is concerned her stepmom trying to kill her during a mood swing is normal Monday witch school drama.

I loved the fact that Harvey had the cover of 'Archie's Mad House' #22 on the wall of his room. This is the comic issue featuring the first appearance of Sabrina in the Archie Universe.

Ambrose, I saw his willful ignorance as him struggling with his incarceration, his role within the Church of Night, and his role within the Spellman family. These conflicting paths lead him to be more inactive and unsure of which path he should take. Conflicting his personal demons with his loyalties for a family and a society that seem to be at odds with one another frequently.

Want to talk about my 2 favorite couples. Ambrose and Luke we're lovely but remember, Hilda spiked Luke's coffee with love potion. So we can't be sure if their relationship is really real. I really liked Ambrose but he deserves better. Harvey and Sabrina's relationship came to a realistic end after what happened. But I think him and Nick could be good friends. He has no male friends and I think they had definite chemistry in the last episode. I personally hope Nick, Harvey and Sabrina give a polyamerous relationship a try. Nick says in the possession episode that he'd be cool with Sabrina dating them both. Great subversion of a love triangle if they all get together. Can't wait for season 2 😈

Biggest question... Why is Zelda American, but Hilda is British? Yet they're sisters?? Who presumably grew up together at some point. So were they separated at birth? Are they adopted, or half sisters? I need answers!! Also, where are Ambrose's parents? Is his Britishness related to Hilda's in some way? Gah 😣

I don’t see a problem with satanic elements or violence in this show. I mean, can’t we have a few shows that are adult oriented with sinister themes? Does everything have to be family friendly? Is it really fair to criticize a show because it doesn’t go the Disney route?
