I think older Rhaenyra is way better than the younger version. Her whole shtick seemed to be “I’m going to do anything I want and then get upset when my actions have consequences.” As an adult she demonstrates patience and an ability to see the situation for what it is. And Emma simply has better scenes to work with.

I disagree with your take on Rhaenyra. Not only do I much prefer Emma D’Arcy in this role, but I much prefer the older version of Rhaenyra. To me, reluctance to start what is essentially nuclear war, does not show incompetence. Especially considering she’s aware of the prophecy, and knows that the realm must be united to face the threat in the north.

The whole idea of him starting the war on purpose is nothing but people reading Fire and Blood and taking one account literally and then being caught off guard when the true story is more complex - better - and prevents them from simply deciding which character is good or evil. So many viewers can only approach the story from the perspective of choosing sides and then expecting the show to constantly validate their choice. I will never forget when the Stannis supporters in GOT had to watch this cretin *burn his own daughter alive* and then try to justify it. Lol

Most people's favorite characters are obviously gonna be Daemon, Rhaenyra and Aemond but the two most improved characters from Fire and Blood are Viserys and Alicent. By far. I'm also excited to see what Aegon does cause the character has so much depth and the little glimpses of that we saw from Tom Glynn-Carney in Ep9 was very promising.

Viserys is one of my favorite Tv and Film characters of all time now. Right up there with Anakin, Obi Wan, Jon Snow, Walker White, Health Ledgers Joker etc. Paddy’s acting was on point. I loved how strong and caring, yet weak and indecisive Viserys could be. He was a man of contradiction and it worked so well. The motifs and themes used for Viserys were powerful. He was literally the face of Westeros as it decayed into this civil war. I felt so bad for him as he decayed. He was honestly a fantastic lead character for season 1. Paddy deserves a Oscar and this show with just 1 season is probably already my favorite show ever. (Matt Smith’s Daemon is a very close second favorite character.😂)

Strongly disagree with your opinions on both Rhaenyra and Aemond. -Younger Rhaenyra came across to me as very reckless, selfish and at times made very stupid decisions. The older Rhaneyra turned into a great queen and mother one that takes her time making decisions and that looks at the bigger picture and everyone's best interest instead of just her own personnel desires, which is what a good leader ought to do. -As of Aemond I just don't see how so many people find him so cool and even compare him to Daemon, maybe it's the actor but to me he just feels like a bad Daemon cosplay trying so hard to look so cool and badass but not quite being able to emit that same aura or charisma.

Without spoiling things I do believe that the writers are VERY aware of the civilian death caused during episode 9. It will be a KEY plot point to a huge event likely to happen in season 3 or 4. It's understandable though that because they don't highlight it now that a viewer unfamiliar with source material would think it was a huge negligent oversight. I think that makes your point valid though that as writers presenting the story to an audience almost fully unfamiliar with the source material they needed to start to present on scene explanation now of it's eventual consequence.

I really enjoyed S1 minus a couple minor things here and there, obv. Started a little slow. But had me invested around Ep 4. Really good episode. Ep 5 hooked me in completely. It's the turning point of the season. Ep 8 and Ep 7 are the two best respectively. 8 was peak GoT. 7 was very Shakespearean. Ep 9 to me is the most underrated cause it's a "You Win or You Die" classic GoT political intrigue episode slightly marred by three mins of a "Beyond the Wall" ending. Ep 3 to me is the most overrated cause ppl loved it too much for it basically being a MCU movie feat. the Crabfeeder villains. Overall : 1=mid, 2=decent, 3=overrated, 4=very good, 5=excellent, 6=good, 7=2nd best, 8=Best, 9=most underrated, 10=very good. Most people's favorite characters are obviously gonna be Daemon, Rhaenyra and Aemond but the two most improved characters from Fire and Blood are Viserys and Alicent.

You should watch Australian dramedy “Upright” which is the first big role for Milly Alcock where she plays co-lead to Tim Minchin. It’s a really great 8 episode series (each episode around 30 min). Milly is an absolute delight in that series. And 2nd season premiers November 15th.

I agree on you with older Rhaenyra. She has definitely lost that fire and rebelliousness that we loved when she was younger. Although, I think, and hope, that we see some of that fire return in season 2 now that her son has been killed and all hats are off. I really think they should target February 2024 just after Superbowl. Euphoria definitely has less overlap with NFL vs HOTD so they could hit series highs easily against it. Can't say the same with Succession or HOTD. If they want sexy headlines come Monday morning, air outside Football season. GOT aired April through August its entire run

I think the creators knowingly slowed down on making Rhaenyra a boss character too quick. the last scene of season 1 I believe was were her true growth begun. her son's death (which I do believe she loved more than anything. that's why she hesitated on sending them alone) was the last straw that broke the dragon in half 😉. her diplomacy ended there.

I think Viserys would be my #1 if I could get over how passive he was in regards to cementing Rhaenyra's claim to the throne. There was more he could do and I'm not sure why he didn't. Viserys was all the time indecisive and whining, he wasn't complex at all. He was the loser everyone was forced to respect because he was the king so he always kept that good will to do best, because if he had been a regular joe he had been put in his place a million times and he would've grown bitter, angry, hateful and everyone would spit on his face. No, sorry, he is the architect of the downfall of his house. The only good thing we can thank him for is that with his incompetence he gave Daenerys the best arc of all.
