@jordanmatthewstelck8 күн бұрын
Don't kid yourself. Alvarez has nothing else lined up right now; what else would he say? Contrary to what you might think, from a business standpoint, Romulus did NOT perform well. There's a massive difference between box office success and people talking very loudly about a film. Romulus needed to beat Prometheus numbers in order to warrant any kind of sequel that involves Alvarez's return, and it didn't. There's no gray area here. The ONLY thing Disney has its eye on now that is Alien-related is the upcoming TV series, Alien: Earth. If that turns out to be a success, we MIGHT end up getting another film in the near future, but it would most likely be from Ridley and/or direct to Hulu. Even then, if the show is successful, Disney might not be inclined to give us another film over simply renewing the series.
@JR-sj1jz7 күн бұрын
@jordanmatthewstelck Prometheus had a star cast. Guy Pearce, Idris Alba, Charlie Theron and Fassbender. Also wasn't Romulus supposed to have originally been meant for streaming. Why would Disney expect Romulus to do better at the box office when it was movie originally meant for streaming, had less star power amongst it's cast and a smaller budget? Doesn't quite compute that.
@jordanmatthewstelck7 күн бұрын
@@JR-sj1jz It actually does. Prey was a success and they assumed Romulus would also. It was a fair assumption, I suppose, but knowing Alvarez's track record would've made me second guess doing a theatrical release. Aside from Evil Dead, his work has not performed well at the box office.
@JR-sj1jz7 күн бұрын
@jordanmatthewstelck still doesn't compute. And comparing it to Prey makes even less sense to me because that was a streaming movie. It wasn't a cinema release. So I don't understand how Prey's success as a streaming movie leads to an expectation for Romulus getting more than Prothemeus at the box office.

While neither of those movies made a huge splash at the box office, both saw relative success so there is some kind of audience willing to watch these. If I were Disney, I would invest in one more installment for each to test if this momentum is really there, instead of selling and letting another studio potentially get that win. Both haven’t had a new installment since before COVID, so they’re gonna need time to get back off the ground. I think both are very strong IP that Disney could really take advantage of.

"Front Room" would've felt like a better movie if they didn't market it as a horror film (because it's not) and had a more over the top ending. So disappointing they missed the mark there. Such an easy fix imo.

I thought Horizon was horrible. It was like a super long crappy lifetime movie. I can’t believe it’s from the same guy that made Dances with Wolves.

Wow that’s a big opening! Well done beetlejuice!

Catherine O’Hara’s performance reminded me so much of Moira from Schitt’s Creek and then realizing Delia came wayyyy before Moira. So I rewatched the first BJ and saw moments of Moira and was just very happy.

Grace! I put on my intern hat and think I found a solid choice for a revival: William Castle’s 13 Ghosts. A 2001 remake didn’t do too well, but has gained an occult following and the original is still revered. I think with the right cast, adaptations to the story, and amazing ghosts that the film could do really well.

If you remember, Zendaya and Timothe Chalamet managed to go all out for the 'Dune: Part 1' premiere at Venice. Jenna and Wynona did try to have fashion moments but I don't think they're fashion people in the way someone like Zendaya is or that the Beetlejuice brand has the rich reference history that a brand like 'Barbie' afforded Margot Robbie.

Ryan Reynolds is a marketing genius, but don't all his non-Deadpool movies flop!?
@Stabity7 күн бұрын
And any brand his marketing team works on that doesn't have Ryan front and center, doesn't do well either. I think marketing genius is ridiculous. He just put his star power into marketing, that's it.

I think it came out at just the right time and not in October as Grace suggested; right as _Deadpool & Wolverine_ was winding down and audiences wanted to get excited for something else. We'll see how excited audiences will be for _Lady Harley Quinn Gaga,_ I mean _Joker 2._ If it's disappointing it still might have a good opening weekend, then die off the next weekend.

It feels like they marketed beetlejuice a lot + low overseas is worrying. Can it be another twisters? i hope, unlike twisters, it actually breaks even in theatrical window
