Absolute Beginner's Guide Part 10 - Your First Game!
The best way to learn how to make games, is to just make them! So today I'll be showing you the game you'll be creating as you follow along with me in this series. It's a game inspired by Flappy Bird, and even though it looks simple, it contains the aspects of what every game needs: levels, characters, obstacles, music, and more! Platformers and flappy birds and space shooters seem to be popular tutorials for just about any game system. And based on your prior work I'm sure this one will be excellent and I will definitely follow along :) As a person of a certain age ... ahem ... however, I'm a big fan of 70/80s arcade games. Asteroids. Pacman. Centipede. Space Invaders. Galaxian. Defender. Zaxxon. Boulderdash. Mr Do. Paperboy. Pit fall. Dig Dug and so many other classics to choose from. Have you ever considering doing something recreating a classic game? You could perhaps do it in two stages - the first showing a recreation of the game* with a 'classic' low-res pixellated look and feel, and a second part where you 'reimagined' that classic for a modern audience. I.e., how would you go about it if somebody pushed a keyboard into your hands and said 'Make me Donkey Kong for the 2020s?' I think it would make for a very interesting series, or even course, being informative not just from a coding perspective but also a game designer's viewpoint. Heck, you could run a poll to see which classic got the Let's Learn This Together touch. I figured I'd put it out there. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I don't know if it's just me or if there'd be interest in such a thing. I'd certainly watch such a series, or buy/kickstart such a course. I like your work. * Yes, I realise for IP reasons you couldn't just make 'Space Invaders' but if CS50 can get away with 'Super 50s Bros' I reckon it's possible :)

That’s a really great idea and it’s one I’ve had and came so close to doing not that long ago. That’s a good list of games, and I bet I can find one to do. I’m going to be making more courses soon, so look for that :)
