@@imtheonevanhalen1557: Although the Boss 429 was a bad ass engine, the 427 Cammer was Ford's pinnacle racing engine. It was a true Hemi, not to mention exotic for it's time. Shame on NASCAR for not allowing the Cammer to run on the oval (which it was originally designed for), and NHRA for eventually banning the engine also.

OH YEA ! The 427 SOHC is one bad ass motor . Especially with a big roots blower . Tons of torque . I would love to put that in my 76 cobra .II with 456 gears and a FMX tranny out of a 70 to 74 Torino . Talk about scary.

Glad you guys enjoy hearing it run. Dyno Don Nicolson built the engine in the 1960,s and sold it to john Jones and was campaigned in a funny car and the car sold and engine stored for years. It is not a runner due to the value and colorful history My contribution was building the rolling chassis for the project, which I greatly enjoyed. Them were the days.

Also thank you for helping preserve history with this car as many of my generation never got to see this cars in their hayday or in person up until cacklefests became a thing and then more and more of these cars started reappearing for the first time in decades Also are you and James McCoy brothers because I remember Seeing both of you Guys names on the back of the car in the Special Thanks section

There are many fuel cars there that do race, but they are more modern "nostalgia" cars. There are a lot of gassers and others there racing that are actually old race cars. There are a lot of these old fuel cars in the pits that only run for a few minutes every few hours to draw a crowd and then they shut them off. Many years ago when the Hot Rod Reunion first came to Beech Bend there was a fuel dragster there that was running a real SOHC and he was racing it hard. I watched him doing maintenance between rounds and it was nice to see inside one of these engines. I haven't seen him back again.

That's one pretty car. Wasn't it nice when every dummy with a Honda wasn't always talking about HP numbers. So many old cars never rolled onto a dyno and the mystery of it is just fine. All you need to know is that it's probably more power than the old slicks can handle and that's plenty.kids today are warped into thinking if you aren't putting a thousand to the wheels then you don't have anything special and most would be crying if they ride in something with a legitimate few hundred HP.
@fortcrafterbossbehold9027

Fun fact, as a JDM and vintage dragster guy I can confidently say, it was never Honda guys who used to blabber about HP numbers. In fact they get ostracized twice as much as the vintage muscle guys since they only have small 4 cylinders as they can only afford little fuel (I wanted to get a Honda Civic from the early 90s, stock, but I didn't because the car community would never let me live it dow). Those responsible behind this trend are actually the high end JDM guys (Supra's and Skylines) and modern domestic muscle boys (Mustang 5.0 and ESPECIALLY the Dodge Hellcat dudes)...
