The Lalitha Sahasranama offers different levels of understanding based on our capacities. Those who suffer from great sorrow chant it for relief and are uplifted. ārto jijñāsurarthārthī jñānī ca bharatarṣabha || Bhagavad Gita 7.16 As the Bhagavad Gita describes, there are four kinds of devotees: the distressed (artha), the seekers of knowledge (jijnasuh), those desiring material wealth (artha-arthi), and the wise ones (jnani). Bhagawan declares in the Gita that He is the supreme knower (Jnani). Each person approaches the divine in their own way, progressing step by step in devotion, Each person attains what they seek.
