Pt.ji. was 65 in 1986. I heard him last live on stage in 1996 on his 75th birthday in the annual ITC SRA music conference organized by Pt. Vijay Kichlu in Kolkata. It was an honour to listen to him live. One of the greatest vocalists in the 20th century and a worthy representative of the complex meerkhand system of raga vistara in the Kirana gharana style of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Saheb, Pt. Sawai Gandharva and Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur. He developed a unique style with a blend of full-throated staccato taans interspersed with silken meends that'll mesmerize us for centuries. A truly deserving legend and Bharat Ratna. Jai Sacchidananda!

This was at my town Serampore and the Classical Music Concert was organized by Serampore Sangeet Samaj. I still can vividly memorise the performance of Bhimsen -ji where we were simply mesmerized by his classic rendintion of Lalit in a cold winter dawn. Mahapurh Mishra -ji beautifully accompanied Bhimsen -ji. It was a heavenly experience to all of us who happened to attend that musical program.

Our haert felt what we had haerd in Kundgol Sawai Gandharva function(Karnatak) on 28th Sept 1958 is repeated again..At.that time we had recorded on Grundig spiral Tapes. Panditji singing Raga Lalit between 04:00-06:00 ie during the ‘Brahma Muhurtam’ the absolute perfect choice for this time of the day. In 1984 he’d have been about 61y of age. A mind blowing performance.

Tabla maestro Pt.Mahapurush Mishra is Well artist in Indian classical music. He belongs to Banaras Gharana & has played with many great vocalist. He always played his tabla to suit the vocalist.

What a mind blowing Golden Presentation.We had enjoyed this Lalat inKundgol Sawai Gandharva in1960 (63 year's back) He started Rag Lalat at5.15 am.to 6.25.That was never forgetting live music session to us .Padma Shri Smt Gangubai Hangal other Eminent musicians were present on that occasion.Never forgetting music session in our life.16.3.2023.Shirhatti.Karnarak.
