@@LyneisFilm Interesting! We can have as many as a dozen in our backyard, and we usually make them come take peanuts from our hand. In the end squirrels are more interesting than birds. I mean it's cool to feed birds, but you can't get to know them "personally" as you can squirrels, squirrels are just easier to identify individually (at least for me). Different individuals have highly different behaviors, while also sharing highly similar traits. Like they almost all approach our hand-feeding "station" (a chair set right outside our patio slider) in a stylized and predictable manner that I assume is based on some innate "strategic reasoning" about what makes a path "safer," while at the same time they are perhaps easiest to keep track of (given how quickly/frequently their fur color changes) by behavior: some are timid, some are bold, some are aggressive and grabby, some take peanuts gently, etc.

He also used his litter box, learned to catch, and do other tricks with few lessons. When Jerry matured, he longed to be free. We lived in the mountains, and the tree where he was blown from, was just outside my window, so giving him his freedom without worry, was pretty easy. I saw and fed him nearly every day. I just came across your first squirrel video, checked your channel to see if there were any others, and lo and behold here's a brand new one uploaded only three hours ago! As before, your down-to-earth narration is great - and I love that jay telling the squirrel off in terms that sound like they would be unprintable if they were in human language, haha. I appreciate that you made a seperate squirrel cafe stocked with all the finest items on a squirrel's dream menu - please let us know how that burying of the nuts goes in the neighbor's yard, though (and whether the shiny new squirrel baffle actually keeps these little geniuses out of the bird feeder.) Thank you for making these videos.

The new squirrel shield looks solid. It must be at least 5 feet up and 7 feet from any tree or fence. Maybe the neighbors will find a pecan tree growing in their back yard. the nuts are in the shell and raw. Purchased from ANUTS dot com.

I really loved this video. Fun and relaxing, and put a big smile on my face the whole time. Your squirrel deterrents remind me of another video where someone put a slinky around the pole so the squirrel couldn't climb up. He of course learned how to jump from a nearby tree instead.

Thank you for making this video! My son is autistic and terrified of all animals, we watched the video together and he kept on repeating "I don't have to be afraid of the squirrel!" Videos like these help me expose him without fear or anxiety, it makes it easier for him to manage when we come across the real thing on our walks 😊

That is the best comment yet. I am so glad it helped your son understand squirrels are not a threat to humans.

I just loved watching the cleverness of Wimpy. Definitely made me smile. I have a pesky guy as well and he actually lifted the lid of my feeder and sat inside feasting. But the next morning, when I went out to refill, what a surprise I got! A sparrow had gotten itself trapped inside when I went to replace the top of the feeder and burst out to fly away and startle the hell out of me!

Glad I saw this after seeing the other vid. I was gonna say, "Just feed your damn squirrel too!" Lol, cus we have a neighborhood one, Chitters, who is happy to leave the crow plate be as long as there are peanuts for her! She takes them from my dd's hand now too. She sometimes even sits on the porch waiting for us. I swear she'll be knocking on the door soon! LOL!

I love squirrels....I used to feed them but bears were tearing down the feeders (same one you built) . Now I can't feed them cause I have at the present 7 cats....sometimes more or less. If I feed them, they are cafes for the cats....Loved your video

Sorry to hear that. Glad you enjoyed the video. We have neighborhood cats, who are interested in the birds. The birds typically signal alarm when a cat comes by.

@@LyneisFilm "Squirrels are the best." 1) ground the bird feeder with bare copper ground wire wrapped around it. 2) hang the bird feeder by using a nylon zip tie, to hang it from a bare copper wire connected to 110 VAC [ or more if you have a transformer] 3) place a five gallon bucket under bird feeder for collecting squirrels. 4) make sqirrel pot pie, see video kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKa8fKV-rZ2HrKc Alterate Method 1) simply show video kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKa8fKV-rZ2HrKc to neighborhood squirrels, and they will get the measage...
