Great video man! I was doing a physics problem involving forces transferring through gears and needed to determine the best gear configuration in a inclined plane scenario. I had forgot how to calculate the resulting acceleration, so I came to your video! I didn't need that info to solve it, but I wanted to calculate just for the pleasure of it hahahah. Hello Brian, when the problem did not specify in what direction the block is going to slide from an inclined plane, should I always assume that it would slide to the east direction?
@stepbystepscience8 жыл бұрын
If there is no friction then the mass will always slide down the inclined plane. If there is friction it will either slide down the inclined plane or if the friction force is greater then the force down the plane it will not move. I explain this concept in the following video kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2WQkomlrrOGp7s

Because I said so or something like that.....
@aaronmullen-hales32655 жыл бұрын
if you have the line mg going straight through the two parallel lines you can prove they are similar through AAA since we know its a right angle triangle, and we can show that one other their other angles are equal through the properties of a line cutting through 2 parallel lines, the last angles must also be equal.

Explains how my kid bounced two mowers out the front of a trailer today. Mass doesn't matter but the rate of the angle sure sent 280 lbs mower flying faster the truck pulling them. How, well he hit a pot hole and the trailer pitched up from the rear.

Hopefully nothing broke!
@irey19786 жыл бұрын
@@stepbystepscience One mower was totaled, but I'm happy no one got hurt. Mowers can be replaced. We will be buying a longer trailer soon to stop the friction less angle acceleration these mowers went through. I knew the mowers went faster then the truck, your video gave me the math needed to solve the how. 2 ft pothole X 4x8 trailer X 15mph x 12 to 19 degrees= two mowers @ 280lbs flying. I'm sure my math is wrong but seeing Newton's laws at work priceless.

Did not get this guy's explanation at all.. guess that's my fault.. I'm not up in his doggerel. It might be step by step but an outline of the non standard jargon he uses would have helped. Helped me anyway. I'm sure an outline of What he is describing would have helped me. Instead he just..... Says things like "sum up all the forces" in "This" direction.... And then declares the "normal" direction. I beg your pardon but you might define normal for us.... And explain what it means...... As it is I'll get my dunce's hat and head off to the back of the class.
