The BI Career Starter Program is a 12-week program designed with one specific goal in mind, to help you land a job as a BI analyst and start your career in Business Intelligence.

Is data modelling part of the course? If so, what tool is used to do the data modelling and will we learn methods such as Kimball?

The program teaches data modelling in the sense that we will be designing and building relational databases and learning how to set up data warehouses and pipelines.

What's the difference between a BI analyst vs a Data Analyst? I'm confused because the most popular job title I see on linkedin is Data Analyst, whereas if I type BI Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst, I hardly get anything at all; it's mostly Data/Business Analyst titles, but you seem to put a hyperfocus on BI. Wouldn't marketing yourself as a BI Analyst be bad since recruiters are probably typing up Data/Business instead?

Hey John, to learn more about BI, I’d recommend checking out the very first video on the channel called “What is Business Intelligence?”. In terms of the results you get for your job search, I guess it will depend on things like the market you’re searching in and the website. There is definitely a lot of crossover of skills between BI and data analyst roles but Business Intelligence requires a specific skill set that will be taught in the program.

The program is aimed at those wanting to become a BI analyst. BI engineering is kind of a misnomer as the skills aren't exclusive to BI. They are technical skills that are relevant to most scenarios involving data.

How much time per day would we need to commit to this? Would someone who is currently working be able to successfully attend this program?

Each week will vary in terms of intensity. There will be 2-5 hours of online videos per week, the weekly live sessions of up to 2 hours and the time you'll need to complete each assignment will vary.

There will definitely be crossover in skills. This program is 100% focused on BI whereas the Google certification gives more of a general overview of “analytics”. This program is also focused on preparing students to land their first job by building on project portfolio.

This program won't be for everyone. If you feel like you might struggle, it may be better to find an online course that is more suitable. In terms of assistance during the program, there will be live sessions every week and I will be available to answer any questions by email outside of those sessions.
