I'd love to see the whole setup with the MIDI Behringer FCB1010 pedalboard and a suitable soundcard. I think that the soundcard would need to have MIDI In and Out. It absolutely works. The problem is that people who haven’t used it expect it to sound as their own physical version does. But the sound they know is influenced by many factors, including their amp and the sound they hear in this video is also influenced by other factors. I played a CU24 through BIAS FX 2. I then switched to my LP and didn’t change any rig settings. I modeled the CU24 and the sound was *very* similar.

Yes, it’s supposed to make your guitar sound like a specific different guitar. So you could try to make your Eli phone les Paul sound like a fender Stratocaster. I think the better way to use it though is to try and make a squier strat sound like a fender custom shop. Not as big a jump but perhaps more pleasing results. 👍🏻

@jtguitartv5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remembered whilst editing. I've never tried a Duesenberg. It didn't say to play one string at a time. I just followed the instructions to the letter. If that is the case, they'll have to put that in an update.
@TheiPodTouchPenguin5 жыл бұрын
For the first part, you should be playing separate notes as it says. I don't think you should be letting strings ring out or playing chords. For the second part where you're barring, you should let the strings ring out or it'll fail.

The first part only records one note. It measures the output of the pickup, so it doesn't make a difference. I just double checked this morning. I tried a few different way and the best sound I got was my original preset.

I wondered that too, so I did it again yesterday. But it actually ended up sounding worse than my original guitar match. I agree there's a shrillness to some of the sounds, I'll explain that in the next video. Basically though, the Gordon Smith sounds quite dark on the neck pickup, so I had the amp with the bass dialled down and the trebly dialed up. So when I did the guitar match, the single coil results are quite a bit brighter and more shrill than the humbucker results. Playing notes individually actually didn't work when recording the guitar, they want them to ring into eachother. It makes sense really, they can't process the strings individually, you can only do that with midi pickups.

hi, a question? How did you connect the guitar? Is direct plug in through a Scarlett 2i2 and studio monitors as output be effective?
@jtguitartv4 жыл бұрын
Hiya! Yes, you can use the input on an audio interface, like the Scarlett. That's was exactly how is connected the guitar. And yes, studio monitors or headphones are great for monitoring. Be aware that what sounds good in headphones might not sound good through speakers though. :)

thanks for the review, this looks like a lot of fun. I mean, if softwares have come such a long way that they can simulate amps and mics, why not guitars. Of course they are not meant to sound like the real deal otherwise who would buy the real deal anymore? #cough#purists. But I know for a fact that 50% of rock bands are using software to direct record their albums,even names you wouldn't expect.

Yeah, i can imagine. I've started doing gigs with a laptop rig because it so easy to use and sounds great! Thanks for the kind words! JT

The psychoacoustic effect of seeing you playing that guitar but hearing the other guitar models makes it tough for me to be objective!! All in all, they sound decent, although the Telecaster model does have quite a harsh top end.
@jtguitartv5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't change the amp seeing for each preset. My guitars pickups are quite dark, so I had the treble up on the amp. We need to adjust the amp for each guitar model. I didn't do that. :S :D
@robertsimpson58015 жыл бұрын
@@jtguitartv no worries! I am sure that if you had tweaked the amp, others would have said that you shouldn't have... You can please everyone! :)

Have to be honest, none of the Guitar Match profiles really sound good... your stock pickups sound great! nice and clear, but when the profiles are loaded the tones start to sound overly compressed, they lose high end and they don't have a natural "break up" too them. Some don't also particularly sound anything like the real thing such as the 335 for example
@jtguitartv5 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I didn't change amp settings to compensate for the change in guitar tone, so it doesn't really show them at their best. I think there are ways to get a good sound. It just requires a bit better planning and tweaking than I did. But I agree, not great sounds out of the box!
@simonaustin11365 жыл бұрын
@Shockheadd45 as great fun as experimenting with tones is, for producers/ home studios with limited guitars/ gear (which this is marketed towards), getting results quick and settling on tones from the start is important for tracking. This has the opposite effect requiring you to spend hours dialing in tones that ultimately don't even sound like the "real thing"

What are you using for monitors oh my god dude they sound terrible

A pair of Edirol MA-15 studio monitors. I've recently upgraded to Adam Audio A7x.

To be fair, there are so many variables. Including what monitors I mixed on Vs what people are listening to it on. The best bet it to download the trial (if they do that?) and see how you get in with your own setup. :) But I agree, I doesn't sound great. :S
