I love your description, “illogical joy!” I was saved through a period of extreme physical pain, where I went through a time of lament without even realizing it, and ended with “illogical joy,” knowing I’d never have turned to God and finally understood that he really was with me unless I had gone through such intense suffering.

You are wise to lead your audience through reminders of our total dependence on God‘s grace for sustenance, and for a balanced view of our lives in the world. It’s important to remember that Christians since the first century have experienced horrific suffering such that Americans have no idea of, today. I’m thinking about the early church whose members were used as torches. Jumping over the centuries, and passing over many, many instances of persecution, I’m thinking of the second world war when people like Dietrich, Bon Hoffer, were murdered for their stand in faith. Studying the Psalm online with other Christians is the perfect antidote for our sometimes self-indulgent view of our suffering.

That’s what my husband and I are going through now, he is in a temporary secular job, until a church opens up, for a youth and childrens and or music minister. And for now we have to wait patiently for God to make the next move. But we are so imperfect and impatient. It’s all about Gods timing.

I find that when I am feeling abandoned by God it is really that I have stepped away, turned my face away. When I sit down or kneel and make that eye contact and connect it does change my attitude toward whatever is going on in my life. The result is to truly find that ‘thankful in all things’ attitude even on my darkest days. The the joy and worship make it clear that although life is hard I never have to face anything without His love and arms around me. Psalm 13 is a perfect reminder that staying close to him this week in America will guide our words and calm our thought.. Thanks Faith

Thank you for this! Psalm 13 is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, psalms. It is what changed me last year. Sadly though, since then I haven't looked at it much since. I have been praying for something since last spring/early summer and I got so discouraged one day last week. I was mad at God and when I went to talk to God in my prayer journal, let's just say I've let my feelings known to Him LOL. This video showed me I need to come back to Psalm 13 more. And since my meltdown last week I've put my trust back in Him and I'm working on changing my attitude. With God, ALL things are possible. Thank you for another great video and encouragement. I hope you are doing okay. 💖

Yes, that's the "theta" (Greek) and my professors in my undergrad often used it in note taking and somehow I picked it up and now use it all the time!
