"Jesus may have read...." hmmmm We see Jesus reading from the scroll of Isiah, so we know he can read and we also see them saying about Jesus how can this man read having never learned....So, why should we think that Jesus studied the scriptures the way that they did? We shouldn't. It never says he did. Jesus IS the Word made flesh, He Knew it because He Is it.

I have found most ppl and even most Christians haven't even read the actual Bible, let alone the gnostics. Beyond reading the Bible I have found it helpful to read the history of the Bible, the various times and history in which it was written over the ages, as well as the various translations and history behind that. But I will also add how saddened I am at the level of biblical illiteracy even amongst Christian leaderships of various churches.

As you basically said...Most people who call themselves Christians haven't even taken the time to read the Bible for themselves. Belonging to a "religion" doesn't make you a "Christian",,, Honestly trying to follow the teachings and examples of Jesus is strictly what makes one a "Christian." To be "Christ" like. The only place you are going to find that out is in the first four books. {Gospels]

@thegunsngloryshow It is the unwise choices of humans that put them in fire. Eden is long gone, now we all have to live with the result. God runs Heaven and Satan runs the Earth since he was cast out of Heaven. Who would you choose to follow after understanding the proofs that have been uncovered. Eve screwed up by allowing Satan to seduce her, now we all suffer as a result. Her brokenness caused her to corrupt Adam and now we all live with the result. Blame her not God. Man was never meant to eat from the Tree of Knowledge only the Tree of Life.

I've read and studied the apocryphal texts and they're great. They give great insight into the history. To me, and maybe it's just the Holy Spirit leading me, it's easy to tell why they are not in "the Bible". They have some fantasy-bound accounts, that the reader should be able to discern are full of exaggerations. But, they are useful for the comprehensive view of Christ's lineage and understanding of Him.

@@nathanloan3334 If you cared about the truth you would research that without demanding someone else prove to you what they themselves took the time to learn. Go listen to an Alan Watts lecture. Go listen to a Greg Braden lecture that shows parts of text that were edited out. Go google about the mistranslations. You are lacking serious critical thing skills if you think and accept that the KJV bible as written is 100% dictated by God. If you listen closely it is obvious this person is displaying subjective opinion. A lot of what he is saying can be argued and his comparisons are misleading. But as most of you have proven it is absolutely no use to tell you anything. It is easier to convince you of a lie that fits your desired narrative than it is to convince you you've been lied to. The Bible is fascinating and much of it edifying but it is not all what it seems to be.

@cyb5761 Wow... assume and stereotype much? I wasn't aware that you have been following me around my whole life, recording what I have and have not studied. What I think and don't think about the bible. I'm gonna have to start looking around for you now. You might want to check the notes you have of me, though. I don't read the KJV. And I don't know what a critical thing skill is. Sarcasm aside, the fact that you place all Christians into one small stereotype, even down to assuming we only read the KJV, tells me you are one of the most ignorant people I've interacted with on the internet, and that's an accomplishment. And since you've decided to stereotype every Christian into your own little invented box, this tells me you've not actually done what you are telling me to do. Which is research. You think we don't know about the variants? You think we believe the bible was dictated by God? You think we only read the KJV? You think we haven't actually investigated the claims the bible makes? You think we haven't listened and considered both sides of the arguments? You think we can't read the nearly 25,000 Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek manuscripts we have? And yet you are going to tell me that I don't research anything? Also, you make claims about Dr. Johnston's comments claiming his points can be argued. First, you didn't say which points you were referring to, and second, you said they can be argued and offered no argument. Please tell me any idea, theory, or conclusion that cannot be argued. Next, you say his comparisons are misleading, yet offer no examples or argument for your claim. Sound to me like you have a bunch of regurgitated words and no substance.

I'll have to watch for you from now on. One correction for your notes though, I don't read the KJV. I also don't know what a thing skill is. Sarcasm aside, since you've decided to stereotype Christians into your small imaginary box, this proves you haven't done what you are telling me to do, which is research. You think we haven't investigated the claims our religion and the bible makes? You think we haven't listened to both sides of the arguments? It sounds like you need to heed your own advice and do a little honest research. Also, you make claims about Dr. Johnston's points but provide no argument to validate your claims. You say a lot of what he is saying can be argued. First, any thought, idea, concept, theory, etc. can be argued. So, I'm not sure what your point is. Second, just saying "a lot of what he said" isn't actually challenging anything he said. You also said his comparisons are misleading yet offer no comparison he mentioned and also offered no counter argument to any of them. So, it sounds like you are full of regurgitated words and empty on substance.

The Catholic Bible has 73 books compared to 66 books found in other Bibles. Those are the 7 deuterocanonical books that Catholic Bible has which Luther removed. Jerome originally didn’t want the extra books included but he later changed his mind and included them in the LV. I never knew that until just recently. I started reading those extra books, and they have a ton of wisdom in them too. They even backup the idea of Purgatory and Almsgiving. The Maccabean book also backs up the Maccabean revolt which was a significant period in history. I don’t understand why the Jews didn’t want those extra books in the Bible. They have true Jewish history in them. This guy is spot on on what to look for. Going back as far as possible to find original sources, artifacts, etc. and Secondary sources as well are in important such as other witnesses in the period and their recounts of historical events.

The canon of the Bible is and has been 73 books: In 382AD Pope Damasus at the Council of Rome listed the 27 books of the New Testament and 46 books of the Old Testament as the Canon of Scripture. In 383AD Pope Damasus commissions St. Jerome to make a Latin translation of the New and Old Testament Scriptures. Jerome used the Hebrew Masoretic texts for his Old Testament translation and Greek writings for the New Testament translation. The Masoretic texts didn’t include the Deuterocanonical books because the Jews had rejected them. Jerome made a Latin translation of these books after they were confirmed by the Councils of Hippo and Carthage. In 386AD the Council of Hippo came up with the same list of 46 OT and 27 NT books. In 397AD the Council of Carthage again under Augustine came up with the same list and sent it to Rome for approval.

The original Orthodox Bible that the Orthodox Church gave us way back at the beginning is the only one that hasn't had things removed & changed. Talmudists were consulted on the KJV which is why Macabees was removed, over 60 verses were changed & its entire context reinterpreted. If one is not practicing the same rituals & getting the same interpretations as the apostles then one is obviously in error. You were warned that MANY false Churches would come in his name yet so many fall into it every time. Hence why so many Evangelicals end up as Noahides.

What an excellent presentation of the history of the Bible with the best Bible for the English speaking peoples, of course, being the King James Version (KJV) Bible that has been derived from the King James 1611 Authorized Version of the Bible, and not only did this original version contain those Apocrypha books, it was a law that these Apocrypha books had to be included, with there being severe penalties if they were omitted. In my humble layman's opinion, one of the very best studies one can engage in when it comes to being able to grasp the significance of the history of the KJV Bible is to simply watch one or more of the very excellent documentaries that can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video, with my favorites being "A Lamp in the Dark, The Untold History of the Bible Part 1" and "Tares Among the Wheat: Sequel to A Lamp in the Dark"

There are so many copies of the manuscripts where all of them don't have the same difference[s] We can/did use all the ones that don't have a specific difference comparing to all the other differences in the various manuscripts to arrive at having one consistent manuscript with all the minority differences removed.

Today's bible, compared to the Hebrew Tora or the dead sea scrolls...is perfectly written? Really? I have read the bible cover to cover, I still read it every day and I know for a fact there are inconsistencies and things that are not accurate, but I also know that this is because of man, not God or his son Jesus, it is because of man. Every time it gets translated or rewritten in anyway things get reworded. Things get dropped or added. I believe that the original bible was perfect, but what we have today...not so much.
