@@pastorurshan knowing history like this also helps true leaders in our day to stay true and remain servants to the kingdom. As I listened I thought, God I don’t ever want to let position and comfort spoil me. Tragedy and trials tend to make us pray more and draw near to God. Discover in yourself what your Isaac is, your most valuable possession or emotional attachment. Offer it to Christ he will answer with fire. A fire in your soul that won't ever fail you or leave you. WOW! I had no idea about Martin Luther or the Calvinists doing these atrocities. So many denominations ( more like demon-inations) are simply just the spawn of darkness. Absolutely crazy how deep this wickedness goes. The enemy shall not prevail. I was raised in a Lutheran church, and even as a child I felt it was WRONG. I was recently baptized in a Jesus church, no denomination, and I received the Holy Ghost, and spoke in tongues and had this PURE UNDERSTANDING of God’s love.

“Ride upon The High places of the Earth” In Isaiah 58:14. I have some thoughts on what that may be. I would be so thrilled to hear a biblos episode on that. Habakkuk 3:19 also mentions a similar phrase. “Maketh me to walk upon mine high places” I believe it is much a biblical phrase of what many apostolics nowadays call “the best life we can live” ( finding the great joy of being commited to God) That’s my very short explanation. If you could do an episode on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Wonderful teaching! It’s so difficult and disturbing to think about how “church fathers” justified the practice of executing people who simply didn’t agree with them. It seems to be a carnal response in line with their current culture, not a spiritual response in line with Jesus' teachings. Jesus taught us to love our enemies and do good to them, not to harm them. He taught us to let the tares grow with the wheat. Jesus himself was condemned to die by religious leaders for being a heretic, and the ruling power - even though Pilate “found no fault in him” - carried out the execution. This is exactly how these atrocities happened later to so-called heretics. Did Jesus want to harm those rulers who opposed and condemned him? No, he told Peter to put away his sword. He prayed “Father forgive them”. Paul later warned that we should beware of false doctrine and false teachers, but he didn't induce violence. On the other side, I found this quote by John Calvin which sounds very different from Jesus’ teachings: Calvin, as he commented on his command to execute the “heretic” Michael Servetus and “defend” orthodoxy: “Whoever shall now contend that it is unjust to put heretics and blasphemers to death will knowingly and willingly incur their very guilt. This is not laid down on human authority; it is God who speaks and prescribes a perpetual rule for his Church. . . . Many people have accused me of such ferocious cruelty that I would like to kill again the man that I have destroyed. Not only am I indifferent to their comments, but I rejoice in the fact that they spit in my face.” (Calvin’s Defense of Orthodox Faith against the Prodigious Errors of the Spaniard Michael Servetus, written in 1554; in Philip Schaff, History of the Reformation [New York, 1892], vol. 2, p. 791; cited in Stanford Rives, Did Calvin Murder Servetus?)
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 3 күн бұрын
Wow! Great citation! What an indictment. God help us to follow after Christ and not men who claimed his authority and subsequently abused it on such a large scale. An interesting note. Servetus death was one of the motivating influences of the Pilgrims and others fleeing such profound cruelty and darkness. Just as God used James death in Acts to disperse the church out of Jerusalem, he might have allowed persecution to arise to push the gospel to the new world.

Pastor Urshan, I believe in a previous podcast you mentioned that the purpose of your podcast is not to debate, but you seem to address trinitarian belief often and the condescending nature of its proponents. Perhaps you could invite a guest of the opposing perspective for discussion. I think it would be beneficial to Biblos listeners.

Calvinists view the post Apostolic age as theologically unenlightened due to the lack of double predestination and the held belief in a gospel that taught sanctified living and baptism as a requirement for salvation AND even fellowship.

Great episode. Question: aren’t we technically a part of the many denominations that stemmed out of the reformation? I know we believe our doctrine is different and correct. But we’re still like the many denominations that came out. Just like Martin Luther saw errors we see errors in his teachings and adjust to the word. Other denominations do the same based on their understanding.
@Post-Trib
@Post-Trib 5 күн бұрын
No. The trinity doctrine began in about 200AD with Tertullian and Justin the philosopher. The Nicene Council voted the doctrine of the trinity into their religion in 325AD. The Roman Catholic "church" adopted that name in about 500AD. The reformation was just another split from the Roman Catholic pagan doctrine.
@wolfgangezey
@wolfgangezey 5 күн бұрын
@jlar1984 I would say yes. While there have been groups of people that believed in similar ways that we believe now, there has not been an unbroken line of discipleship. In it’s most fundamental views the Protestant Reformation was a rejection or protest of Roman Catholic & Orthodox beliefs/teachings. Most of our modern organizations were even founded by former trinitarians. We are Protestant because we protest against the doctrine of Catholicism & Orthodoxy.
@pastorurshan

I believe (and this is imo confirmed by surviving writings) that the true church has always existed. Jesus told us "the gates of hell shall not prevail...". Revelation 12 records the woman (God's covenant people) going "into the wilderness" for a time. I believe this was the church going underground as the dragon sought to make war with her and her remnant. Underground, not destroyed. While many have come out from Catholicism and Protestantism and we are thankful for that, there has been a true church all along. My opinion for what it's worth.
@Post-Trib
@Post-Trib 5 күн бұрын
@pastorurshan i tend to agree. Just a small remnant like Israel was given as they went into captivity or exile or their enemies warred against them. IMO, we're at the threshold of the prophecies beginning in Daniel, Revelation & every word that applies to the last 7 yrs. The church will end as it began. Except God will pour out the latter rains & former rains as 1 final outpouring. Along with persecution & martyrdom

I have a question, how would you describe the verse in the old testament that mentions “who knows the son’s name”? And another verse is when the commander of the hosts appears and Joshua bows to him and the angle says I am the commander of the hosts appears. Ppl said that is God but it can’t be because that angel makes a distinction he states that he is the commander of the most high(YHWH) . The captain of the host is Michael the archangel. How will explain this?
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 5 күн бұрын
Proverbs 30:4 is a reference to the name of God and the subsequent name of the Son. It is a reference that both the Father and the Son would have the name Jesus. There is much debate about Joshua 5 and the captain of the Lord's host. Some believe it is God in theophanic form while others claim it is simply an angel (messenger). Perhaps it is Michael. The text doesn't tell us.
@drew5596
@drew5596 4 күн бұрын
@ Thank you for your response, but that verse in Joshua speaks volumes the reason I say that is because that caption(prince) separates himself from YHWH, Michael also lead the host of haven to fight the devil in Rev 12, also in Dal 10:21 it states that Michael is that prince(captain) so by that it can’t be the LORD standing before Joshua, that will make it a second person because again he separates himself from LORD. What are your thoughts on this?
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 3 күн бұрын
@@drew5596 You feel that he separates himself from YHWH by referring to himself as the captain of the Lord's Host?
@drew5596
@drew5596 3 күн бұрын
@@pastorurshan No, I don’t feel it’s what the word says in Joshua 5:14 states” And he said, Nay; but as caption of the host(Army’s) of (LORD)YHWH am I now come. In verse 15 “ And the captain of the (LORD)YHWH host said unto Joshua. In both verse the captain(prince) separates himself from YHWH. Meaning this is not YHWH(YeHoWsHua)(Jesus). That name is in Hebrew spelled out in the concordance 3091 in the Hebrew and in Greek it is 2424. If you look at 2424 first it will also cross reference to the Hebrew 3091 , but you will find it in the printed concordance, because the digital concordance it spells it as yeshua, it is changed in the digital concordance.

Are you saying you don't believe in by grace alone through faith alone?
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 3 күн бұрын
That’s precisely what I’m saying. It’s a corruption of scripture. I believe in grace through faith. THAT’S scriptural. The term “alone” that was added eliminates our obedient response that causes our faith to live or become active i.e. “faith without works is dead”.
@micahbgood

@pastorurshan ok sir but i do need to know this because I haven't gotten a clear answer , does salvation occur at the moment of faith or when a person first speaks in tongues?
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 2 күн бұрын
Salvation occurs when someone acts upon their faith by 1. Repenting 2. Being baptized in Jesus name 3. Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost accompanied by speaking in other tongues. This fulfills John 3:5 and Acts 2:38.
@micahbgood
@micahbgood 2 күн бұрын
@pastorurshan so if someone repents and is baptized in Jesus name and has not yet received the Holy ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is that person not saved ? I'm just trying to get a better understanding
@pastorurshan
@pastorurshan 2 күн бұрын
@@micahbgood Salvation and its efficacy is ultimately up to God as judge. Many try to boil it down to simply speaking in tongues. Receiving the Spirit is what is salvific and that is initially accompanied by speaking in tongues. A person is not born until they cry “ABBA Father”. This is where His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. This is Romans 10. If they aren’t born then they cannot inherit.
