It’s a U.K. licence plate and under U.K. law the cyclists did nothing wrong. They are entitled to take primary position. Even if you disagree with this the vehicle is absolutely not entitled to drive into one of them. Dangerous driving carries with it a maximum sentence of two years in prison and an unlimited fine and a minimum disqualification of one year. Hope the video was submitted to the police.

Riding 2 abreast and in the primary position is much safer and is the recommended technique when riding in a group. It's not just "legally allowed", it is basic defensive riding; cyclists riding 2 abreast have better visibility and is easier to overtake because they are shorter in length compared to riding in a single file. The cyclists are riding exactly how they are supposed to in this situation in many road safety training. The drivers should just pass them like any slow vehicle, by switching to the right/passing lane.

What about keeping a safe overtaking distance? In (EU?) Germany its 1.5m In America its 3 Feet. (around 1m). Add the distance a cyclist HAS to stay clear from the edge of the Road ( as it is filled up with all kinds of dirt/trash and u could crash into the pavement, in germany 0.7m / 2 feet I believe ) so there is NO ROOM FOR A CAR AND A CYLIST in the SAME LANE. I dislike bicycles on the road, HOWEVER just remember that everyone has a job to do and not everyone can afford to drive a car. ALSO try to remember that it’s someone’s son, father, brother, uncle on that bike, not “just another AH cyclist” I don’t like it when they choose tiny B roads and cause 5 mile tailbacks because it’s literally impossible to pass and they’ve passes at least three lay-bys and not had the good grace to let people pass, but at the end of the day we’re all human beings not motorists and cyclists. My take on this the cyclist had moved over, the truck was about to pass him and the cyclist drifted back out into the middle, idk why the truck driver was in such a hurry because he couldn’t go anywhere it’s city traffic and a series of red lights but the fact that he was trying to pass and the cyclist just drifted back out in front of him was dangerous! He then pulled back over to the side of the road saw the truck close by and punched his wing mirror and THATS why he was knocked off! I don’t see what the cyclist did other than slow the movement of traffic and then hit the person’s vehicle with his fist. I can sympathize with both; however, impeding the flow of traffic is not something you can do as well as hitting another’s vehicle/property. The driver should not have acted in that manner as well. Both couldn’t control their emotions and behavior. People tend to see things through their own biases and will attempt to justify their perspective through various illogical or unreasonable thought processes. My point: both were in the wrong and should have not acted in that way. I do see your point but I wouldn’t recommend assaulting someone because they slow traffic. On the other side of the coin, we only see a brief clip of this. They could have held the person up longer than what we saw, which would explain the aggressive behavior if the guess is true. I also do not agree with the cyclist for hitting the drivers vehicle. Both reacted in a wrong way. I wouldn’t say it is an illness or disorder when someone is wanting to get to their destination without being impeded. That is human nature, especially in the modern day. Being reasonable and/or logical is a better way of acting instead of getting emotional. It is hard to judge because there is no context or additional information other than a KZbin short where people usually see it through their own personal biases. Cyclists are subject to the same laws as motorized vehicles. He took the lane in front of the truck appropriately. He was not making a turn, so riding on the side of the road would have taken him the wrong way. You have GOT to think of bikes as vehicles. Sure, some cyclists are stupid and don't follow laws, but most do. When I'm riding, I yield if I don't have the right of way, and I go when I do. I obey the law at 4 way stops, traffic lights, and regular stops. If I'm turning left, I do it from the left lane. If I'm going straight, and there's a turning lane on my right, I take the middle lane, which is what this guy did. He was NOT entitled. He was obeying the law. Cyclists are allowed to take the lane when needed, whether it's a situation like this or a matter of safety (eg, there are parked cars on the side of the road, or the road is full of potholes). All of you thinking this guy was entitled and got what he deserved can go sit on a cactus. Driver was wrong, 100%, and what he did was illegal and dangerous. I hope he was caught and appropriately punished.
