Heading out to tour the Dutch cycling network this summer I hope. I say hope, as the covid thing might still prevent it. I want to try the full Dutch Coastal Route. I can do that in gentle sightseeing touring bike ride over 9 days. I can already taste the dark rye bread, with chunks of Dutch old cheese, smell the stroopwafels melting on my coffee! I have only managed short sections before around Noordwijk. The Dutch national team was training on the beach at the time. Van der Sar the goalkeeper was very friendly Not been to The Netherlands for a few years, one of my favorite places to visit! Keep up the excellent work :-)

This slightly moist rye bread with old cheese (with that hint of crispness) truly is Nobel price excellence!

Still quite a few snoorfiets on the fietspad. I’d have thought by now they would all mostly be on roads but here we are.

What's the point of riding a petrol-powered vehicle that only goes as fast as a bike?
@williamgeardener25093 жыл бұрын
The principle of the Dutch infrastructure is to separate the slower and weaker traffic participants from the motorised traffic. A snorfiets is still a fiets and as such it has to use the bicycle paths. But snorfietsen are going out of fashion because people replace them with e-bikes. Bicycles also share their roads with scooters and sometimes mopeds when it's too dangerous for the mopeds to use the same roads as the cars. That's mainly when cars are allowed to drive significantly faster than the maximum speed of the moped which is 45 Km/h on roads, but 30 Km/h on bicycle paths within the city boundaries and 40 Km/h on bicycle paths outside of them.

Thanks for this trip and it's nice length! 'Looks like a lucky day with sunshine and just a reasonable amount of wind. Thanks also for the real sounds of the road and the environment. Dank U wel!

That you're not allowed to cross the inner ring road on foot or bike anywhere between the traffic light controlled intersections is a pretty awful omission in Eindhoven. I prefer to ride from Eindhoven to Best over the bicycle path along the Beatrix canal, because it's a greener and much less noisy route, and has far less traffic lights.

38:50 Well done sir/ma´am for letting the baby and mother go on the safest route. I have principles and I can´t standpeople that put themselves first of mother´s with their children. So you haven´t lost a subscriber ;) Great infrastructure, though I find the pedestrian areas are not as developed for certain places. Just a thought. Great work on you videos!

No, I could already see the cars coming on the main road. That driver was not going to make that turn just yet. So I made sure I was ahead of this car before the driver could make the turn.
@williamgeardener25093 жыл бұрын
Stupid driver. He should have positioned his car as far as possible to the right almost hitting that wooden pole. That's how you force the bicyclists who want to cross the road to pass your car on the left so that bicyclists don't come flying over the hood of your car.

For a piece of history in Eindhoven, take a look at the St. Catharinakerk --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4O8hoOGibh4a6c From 1867, but that's still long before Mr. Philips started his factory. The iconic church at Stratumseind is visible from the station. Just look to the south and you can see those two iconic towers of Eindhoven. You can find a good picture on the dutch wiki: Sint-Catharinakerk (Eindhoven). Definately part of EHV's skyline.

Okay. Technically Kerkstraat, which is pretty much the sidestreet to eat for Stratumseind nowadays ;)

Leuk om zo die fietstochtjes te zien. Me zou op je microfoon wel een windfilter kunnen plakken voor wat minder vervelend geluild (je hebt van die kleine stikkers met wat lijkt op kattenvacht hiervoor)

The worst part about this video is that you didn't show any old parts of Eindhoven. Oh, I know, that's a study in itself, but at the very least you could have cycled a bit around the city centre to show De Witte Dame for example for a modern historic building. Instead we cycle mostly through 80's houses. At the very least you can see the houses at 1:36 are older and houses after that on the right. At 5:26 you can spot a building from +- 1900 I think ootmh. Not sure how old the church is. Oh well. #EHV Much older than people realise.

Eindhoven old? For someone coming from a 2000-year-old city Eindhoven really is brand new. But I did do some cycling in other places: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3-2Y3x7j7utoZY
