In all fairness if my mate told me we can either see some Danish guards for the Danish royal family which I probably wouldn't have even known the Danish had a royal family as I don't know a South American or something. Or I could go and see the queen's guards who I probably know as the people who genuinely could get away with decking some bikes I'd prob decide to visit the UK.

Summer of 2001 was so hot the tourists would lean against the walls of the palace. Some guards (me; said the dog) got their throat sore with yelling and the Queen got annoyed with the guards(man) for yelling too much all day of the poor fat tourists

The only thing the queens guard of the United Kingdom can’t knock over is I think a few members of the royal family , the guards have an extension of power from the queen which is why if they felt threatened or the queen could be in danger they truly could kill or injure someone without any reprocusions since no one is gonna tell the queen off for killing someone who wants to injure her.

So this is another one of those cases where an indivual has the power to travel back in time to witness the situation itself. "It was obvious, no one was standing where the bikes were as the guards were looking that way" How do you know exactly? At 0:30 you see what I believe to be a woman changing position to get out of their way. Regarding the guard which had to yell it twice. All of the guards were looking straight ahead not looking around to find the people responsible for those bicycles. Therefore I would find it quite normal to yell it twice since he doesn't know if anyone has reacted yet. The boy in the end of the video looks kinda embarrassed to me tbh. The mother is smiling, but it's not impossible to smile when embarrassed.

The Danish guardsman handled the situation perfectly. It's hilarious to read comments suggesting that the guardsmen should just have "walked over" the bicycles or kicked/removed them. If it was just people standing in their way, the guardsmen could have played it tough, but walking deliberately into some bicycles? Nah, that would have been an incredibly stupid thing to do, when there was a better and easier alternative. Also, by not removing or kicking the bicycles, you show that you're above such things. Again, perfectly handled.

One of the women to the right looked like she did that just to stop them and get a picture or six. When they stop she goes behind them takes a few pictures and waits for people to start moving their bikes. Imagine how much those few seconds must've coated those guards cause some tourists think that 6 photos of standing still guards is somehow worth more than a video of them marching. And as someone in the army cadets in the UK let me ensure you that f Getting pictures of people marching is helluva lot better .

My impression is that people were laughing at the absurdity, not the guards. And that the mother and child was embarrassed but otherwise acted in good faith. The resolution seems very Danish: calm, civil and informal (and with some dry humour).

No shit, my personal favorite was a photographer who kneeled in front of us (I was post for gevaer. palaevagt) to get a certain camera angle. He fell over as he is getting up, and I am proud to say that we walked right over him, no stopping, and there may have been an accidental stepping on him as well.. Turned out he was Italian based on what he yelled at us afterwards.

Interesting trivia, the model for the statue in battledress that I guess is now at Hoevelte, was Reventlow from 2.vagthold. 4 times a week for most of the recruit months, he was picked up by a military vehicle and spend the day with the artist. You may not be there yet, but the older I get, the more I realize how special the time was, and that i didnt fully appreciate it at the time. Nice talking to you.
