As an ex-zookeeper, I can assure you there is very little difference between a tiger, and a housecat... behaviorally speaking. The difference is size. There are many stories out there from ex goverment employees who did cover ups about legitimate stories and amplified the debunked ones in the news cycle. The reasons why the american government chose to do this back then are unclear. Some say they are nefarious; hoarding secret alien technology to unlock it's secrets for themselves before informing the public. Making deals with energy companies and the Defense departments. Others say that the goverment is planning a false flag operation. Making everyone fear aliens, in order to unite us all in a global government so we may defend ourselves against 'the alien threat'. But it might also just have been to soothe peoples minds, with the stories emerging back then. It is a very human reaction to laugh off something scary. Whatever the case, I am kinda dissapointed that now, apparently for many the first thought is about the threat of war, or obtaining technology and weapons. If there is advanced alien life out there, I am much more interested in their, discoveries of the universe, their sciences and medicine, filosophies, religeons and art. And it might be up to us to prove that we are worth interacting with. What ever is out there, we best be on our best behavior. And maybe show each other (and whoever is watching) some humanity. To stop murdering each other over skin color, religion and land and get over our greed at the expense of others and the environment would be an excellent way to start if you ask me. Nothing so far indicates that these unknown aireal phenomenon are a threat. Being scared of what we do not understand is something I hope we can avoid.
