We are, in general. But only a subset of Americans control who the Republican party's nominee will be, and that subset is not calling for Trump to step down. The complement of that controlling subset in the larger set of Americans (A - R, where A=Americans and R=Republicans) has no power to affect the Republican party, even if they would prefer that Trump step down.
