I would also add to your point about the beep that aside from making a noise, its also not a pleasant noise, very sharp, a softer beep would probably be a lot more forgivable

Just contacted Smartwhale this week in China. I just ordered one of these. I wrote them and she said the factory says they still do not have a way to mute the beep. But with my email, she said they will work on that upgrade. Of course it doesn't do you any good, nor I. Unless I return it once it arrives tomorrow. Just my luck.
