I like the fact that you told us how to deal with "problems" that might arise rather than just showing how the foot works. Thank you for that.

Thank you for making this video. I had no idea this kind of foot exsisted. I have short legs, and ive had to hem every single pair of pants ive bought for the past 25+ years. This will make things a lot easier and faster.

@MadamSew3 ай бұрын
You can use the snap-on feet with a slant shank but for the screw on feet, you probably need an adapter

Do I need a shank attached to my singer 4411? The hem roll foot does not lay flat. Should it lay flat on my machine or not?
@slinkydog99994 жыл бұрын
I took me longer to use this than to use my fingers. My fabric kept slipping out, and the foot was extremely loose in the snap on ? Is this normal?

Omg, I had a long comment and it got deleted...So I'm losing all my hair trying to figure out as a new sewist, how to do what should be super simple...Sewing hems around 4 corners, to make napkins. Lots of them. The corners are too bulky, I tried a hem foot but it was too narrow and I thought I would literally pull all my hair out if I had to fight with this thing at each corner, starting over. I don't have the patience to fuss with regular mitered corners, and it takes forever too, I tried simple double fold hemming, which left bulky corners. I'm about to buy a walking foot, Then I saw there was super wide hemming feet, like in your video. The question is can you do the whole napkin, all the way around, the corners, without stopping? I grit my teeth with the thought of having to stop and start with cutting thread, realighing fabric, starting to sew again. I want to be able to just do it with one fell swoop. No stop and start a million times, no ironing ahead of time, the iron fumes give me a migraine, no rulers and geometry to miter the corners. Am I asking too much?! Maybe I'm using the wrong weight of cotton fabric, leaving no feasible way to get flat, uncluttered, unbulky corners. Thanks kindly : )
@MadamSew2 жыл бұрын
Sewing corners with the wide hem feet is doable but not easy so I would suggest to stick with mitered corners. I would do that. In this video I'm using the hot hem ruler which makes ironing mitered corners very quick and easy! m.facebook.com/MadamSews/videos/mitered-corners-using-hot-hem-ruler/2462476477223048/?_se_imp=0NZZBFr6xqFvrnxf7

I wish the size on the foot was stamped in black because it is hard to read what size the tube is.

What would cause my finished hem seam to not lay flat but become slightly wavy??
@DewyBug2 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing your fabric was stretchy...
@hazelblair66345 жыл бұрын
can this be used on stretch fabric? thank you for the video.
@MadamSew5 жыл бұрын
Hi Hazel, I've used the wide hem foot with knit fabric. But guiding the fabric in the squirrel is definitely more challenging with stretch fabrics. I wouldn't advise it for a novice sewer. Practice with some scraps first. Good luck!

Believe she means sewing a hem “in the round” where you don’t have ends. Like a skirt that is sewn together already and just needs a hem.
