Good day Doug. As normal a great publication again. It must take a ton of time to edit these long ones. I noticed an eclectic powered air valve and a gray and black box on the upper L/S of the chain box. What do each do? Speaking of chain boxes, I really like those little doors on the sides to take your wrenches and such. Using a 4 x 6 or 8 under the front of the D/D must create an ungodly loading angle for a track machine. Do you carry a couple of 4 x 6 or 8 x 48s" to set long ways in front of the trailer to help reduce that angle? Loved the cop chasing down the 4 wheeler. What's the length of the deck in the well for the railcar trailers, 70'? Have a good vacation and a good day.

Were those trailers with the built-in railroad tracks built for this project, or is there enough rail car business to justify having that capability in inventory?

Peterbilt et transmission. Bonjour Doug. N’hésite pas à me répondre si tu as des commentaires. Merci
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Жыл бұрын

Ya know Doug, The more I watch your videos the more I want to go back to AK and drive for Carilie again or just jump behind the wheel here in TX. LOL STOP MAKING VIDEOS he he Na J/K But ya do make me miss driving/hauling a lot. If Canada and the US got on the same page for signing, it would make the job a little easier. Not be biased here but I think the US oversized signs are better in my opinion just because they spell out OVERSIZED instead of just a D. lol DRIVES ME NUTS about people not caring for the EQ. I kept my truck SPOTLESS, I mean you could have eaten off the floors. Come in after time off and the truck is dirty and the EQ is damaged/dirty/not stored correctly, so I feel ya Bud. Quick question on the double drop trailers and I a no trucker just a fan - seen a lot of videos and the piece of wood between the trailer neck and the truck frame - I am surprised they don't make some sort of extension beneath the neck to support it while its attached to the trailer when you unhook - do they outline that you need to have lumber on hand to support the neck in the trailer manuals (if you have ever seen one?) Thanks for the videos!!!
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407

Most hydraulically operated trailers do have a support that can be raised or lowered using hydraulics. But full mechanical trailers like this one don’t have that option.

So, how is the automagic transmission working out? Is it actually making a noticeable difference in fuel use? ( the reason given to discontinue the manual transmissions )
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Жыл бұрын
I will always prefer a manual transmission. If for nothing else just because shifting heavy loads is an acquired skill that future generations will have less and less. But I must admit this automatic is doing the job quite well so far. As for the fuel economy debate I believe that strongly depends on what ratio the trucks has. This truck is geared to pull a bit better. On cruise at 65mph I’m running 100rpm higher so obviously burning more fuel.
@jaquigreenlees
@jaquigreenlees Жыл бұрын
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 I prefer manual for any vehicle, total control over which gear lets you have a bit more control over speed, specially going downhill. Also, you absolutely must pay attention to the road with a manual, since you need to manually shift, with the automatic it promotes distracted driving by taking that need away.
