Storms always pass, no need to ask for divine intervention on the matter. The birds are well adapted for this sort of weather also. It's called evolution.... Having said that it is probably watching eagles on youtube in Florida and wishing it was there :)

Praying for you, Shadow, and the eggs during this yet, another storm. I am reading a lot about you, beautiful, amazing eagles, and your loyalty to your mates. I have also learned that you are equipped to manage the incubation period during poor weather. You are amazingly able to transfer your body heat as needed to the eggs to keep them roasty toasty. This info really settles a lot of my concerns but it still breaks my heart to see Jackie and Shadow covered in snow. They look so cold setting on the eggs. Yhey are such dedicated parents. Love them to death❤❤

It might help to remember that the Bald Eagle population in Alaska is massive. They thrive in winter conditions because they were made for it. Plus Jackie has a nice ring of wind blocking snow around her so she's actually toasty warm right now.

What I love about J & S is their patience with their babies who are rude and loud at times. These parents love hard and are so beautiful to watch. Thanks to Friends of Big Bear Valley for maintaining sophisticated cameras and arranging docents to answer questions. These birds are followed by thousands worldwide. ❤️🦅🦅

You should see what this nest looks like today. Jackie has been completely buried in a few inches of snow almost all day and the snow keeps falling. She's been laying on the nest for more than 40 hours straight at this point too. Jackie is a master Eagloo.

Shadow hasn’t shown up all day today. Is this unusual for male eagles not to show up in bad weather conditions? She’s super soaked from the rain. And he hasn’t changed shifts with Jackie today.

I think it is unusual too. I know that fishing is very difficult...maybe he doesn't want to show up without something for her to eat. Just guessing, of course. Hope he comes in soon!!

These eagles need to find a warmer place to raise family. Last year their eggs didn’t hatch due to severe winter. Looks like this year won’t be much different. I pray that I am wrong.

Last year it was because they left the nest for hours. I think only 2 out of 14 eggs of theirs has hatched 😢
