I really like how you show us how you put the wood on the lathe, that's really interesting! I like how you did a couple turns and then showed us how it looked. Wow the wood sure is pretty even when just turning it, without the wax and such. Love the up close, it's SO GOOD! I like the bowl it's really pretty!

Nice bowl! I'd love to make one that large - just haven't found the right wood that size yet. BTW - you can use thin CA glue on punky areas of spalted wood, then do a light cut with the gouge, to try to minimize tear out. Also, be sure to wear a respirator when turning spalted wood!

really the wood lets you know, some times you'll get tear out really bad in one direction or the other, this wood was almost to far gone for turning.
