We take the forgotten factory 429 1973 Ranchero and add some tasty upgrades, including a Quick Performance gear set for the 9" Ford rear end, a new fuel tank, a high-volume fuel pump, a hood scoop, vintage Keystone mags, and a carburetor. Then it's time to see if we can do BIGGER burnouts!

Every old Ford I've dealt with has claimed it were overheating. They just do that. They're not actually overheating, they just say they are. A factory gauge will peg hot as low as 170, and I've seen hot lights come on at about the same. The senders/switches age and don't work properly. I've also seen the cluster voltage regulator get stuck closed and make the gauge read high as well. But if that's the case, the fuel gauge will also read double.

I mean there's no way any of us could afford a $5 scoop & $10 of fibreglass putty. 😂 I was going to comment on a previous Ranchero video that it sounded pretty rough at higher rpms. I'm concerned that when the previous owner fitted the cam he did the right thing and completely ignored upgrading the valvesprings to suit. It's a common issue with Cleveland V8s here in Aus and if you feel motivated could be an interesting video for the channel.

I think it looks really good. I like how it looks like it’s been around the block a few times.

I love these old Rancheros, unlike the Elcaminos you rarely see these. For a shop truck it will probably do fine as it is, maybe put a larger tire in it because those rims actually look pretty good on it 👍

Love your videos! Massey Ferguson Gray would look great on it, especially with the black scoop.
