Big Boi Schindler/MEI Hydraulic Elevators-IKEA-West Sacramento, CA

[Recorded 7-14-18] I believe these are MEI's installed by Schindler. These are super big elevators but typical for an IKEA store. Both have a 10K capacity! One has a rear door and one doesn't. It has been quite some time since I have filmed these. I wasn't planning on coming here the day this was filmed which is why this video was filmed with my phone rather than my camera. These are cool.

The motor on that elevator used to be an MEI DT-221 tall dry powered or belt-driven hydraulic motor. But now the motor is an MEI ST-200 submersible hydraulic motor.

Damn dude! This store seems very familiar to my IKEA store! Both have Schindler/MEI Elevators with Innovation Decorator, and both even have the same layout of the cars themselves. Only difference is that mine has 6 elevators while yours only has 2. Still cool nonetheless! My first vid to my channel was from IKEA, so it kinda brings back old memories. Also, that is the VMI indicator. Go MN!

The Ikea near where I live has three elevators (does not include the service elevator). One with a rear door (Elevator 1), the others (Elevators 2 and 3) without a rear door. The two without the rear door leads you to the marketplace. The one with the rear door leads you to the store entrance/exit. There used to be a label on the second floor that says you can't use the elevator to go down (because of an escalator that only goes up), but they removed the label because customers use it to exit the store when they're not buying anything. Also, the elevators there have epic motors (I'm talking about the ones in the store where I live near, not the ones in this vid).

These are impressive for sure. These huge 10,000 lbs. capacity cars with front & rear doors make me think about the shear size of the WTC (twin towers). Each tower had 20 huge shuttle cars... 10,000 lbs. capacity... that ran 1,600 fpm! (There were also 70 local cars and 9 service cars in each tower.) I think everyone remembers how TALL those towers were. I think people forget how BIG they were... each floor of each tower was an acre in size and it took a lot of elevators to move a lot of people and a lot of stuff. Anyway, sorry to wander from the IKEA elevators but I couldn't help thinking about the WTC shuttle cars of similar size and same capacity.

​@@Skivator Correct. I went to the IKEA near Indianapolis, and it was only one floor. I'm not a fan of giant stores that only have one floor, so I was very disappointed.
